Steven Seagal Threatened With Lawsuit Over Police Raid Taped for Reality Show (Report)

The Hollywood Reporter – Tue, Aug 30, 2011 12:25 PM PDT

Steven Seagal is being threatened with a lawsuit over his part in a police raid that was taped for his A&E reality show, TMZ reported.
The actor, who has served as a reserve deputy sheriff since the mid-'80s, was part of a team that arrived at Jesus Sanchez Llovera's Arizona house in March with a tank and armed in full riot gear, Llovera alleges in his legal documents.

Llovera claims that the raid, carried out by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department, was "unfounded" because they believed Llovera was raising roosters for illegal cockfighting. But he says the roosters are only "for show."

Llovera -- who served both Seagal and Sheriff Joe Arpaio with an official notice of claim, the first step toward a lawsuit -- says his 11-month-old puppy was shot and killed during the raid and that police also killed more than 100 of his roosters.

Additionally, he says the police rammed the tank into a gate on his property and that his home suffered "substantial damage."

Llovera is seeking $100,000 in damages and wants a "formal written apology" from Seagal to his children for the death of their puppy, "a beloved family pet."

According to TMZ, the entire incident was recorded for Seagal's reality show, Steven Seagal Lawman.

A&E declined comment when contacted by The Hollywood Reporter. Seagal and the Maricopa County authorities have yet to comment.

From his Wiki bio, which also states that he...is an animal rights activist.

"Seagal is currently a Reserve Deputy Chief of the Sheriff's Office in the community of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Seagal has a second home in Louisiana, and spends several months a year there.[20] He graduated from a police academy in California over twenty years ago and has a certificate from Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST), an organization that accredits California police officers. In November 2008, A&E announced that they had begun taping Steven Seagal: Lawman, which follows his work in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. The series premiered on A&E on December 2, 2009. Seagal stated that "I’ve decided to work with A&E on this series now because I believe it’s important to show the nation all the positive work being accomplished here in Louisiana—to see the passion and commitment that comes from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in this post-Katrina environment." The series premiere drew 3.6 million viewers, ranking as best season opener for any original A&E series ever.[21]
On April 14, 2010, the series was suspended by Jefferson Parish, Louisiana Sheriff Newell Normand due to the sexual trafficking lawsuit filed against Seagal, a case later dropped.[22] A & E resumed the show for the second season which began on October 6, 2010."

right... </div></div>

And even if they weren't, it justifies a full scale military style raid, tank included, that I'm sure cost the taxpayers of this country hundreds of thousands of dollars? For some roosters? Fuck...

This country and its government is out of control spending all of OUR (tax payers) money like its a fucking game of monopoly.

This was just a minor waste of taxpayer money that our Sheriff Joe has perpetrated.
You should check out the lawsuit payouts he has generated ; and then there's the 99 million that his office "lost".

...but hey ... anything for a TV appearance!!...he would knock down a 3 year old to push his face in front of a camera!!

wes in Maricopa cty AZ....watching Joe and Steven whack roosters with their tank!

Re: Steven Seagal back in the news...

I met the guy a couple years ago up here in AK. He's pretty damn tall and heavy too but carried it well. I'd guess 6'-5" and 260+. He was piloting a Chevy suburban full of Asians. He was polite but a touch uppity as one would expect. JMO
