Now that I have the extended base, I have the scope in the right spot. I now can't bring the bolt back because it hits the rings. So I guess the only option now is to sell my IOR and look for something else unless someone else has an idea. This is such a pain in the ass and I love that scope. Luckily I still have my TPS base if I get something else. Does anything else come with that reticle with dot in the middle of it. I think its the mp-8 modified dot.

Re: Still problem mounting scope

Rem 5r. IOR 35mm low rings. Will post pics in just a minute. I put another butt plate on there, but its only about 1/2 an inch longer than the other. I'm 6'2" so so the rifle should fit, but the scope doesnt have much room between the back lense and the knobs.

Re: Still problem mounting scope

I could file the rings, but I don't want to ruin $100.00 rings. I have had this gun for about 4 months now. First scope was a WOTAC it broke, still waiting on the new one to be shipped. Bought the IOR, it came with high rings. Bought the low rings and couldn't get the right eye relief. Now I bought the extended base and I have this problem.

I asked that before and was told not to do that

If you are in the south part of the state I will take a look at it for you. You should easily be able to get proper eye relief with out the rings inpinging with the bolt. Something is fubar. You need to have another set of experienced eyes look at it.

It looks like the extended rail may be on backwards.

It sure looks that way, and like another said if you cant get eye relief you made need a shorter LOP.

Best option would probably be to modify the rings. </div></div>

I think you are right about both.

Re: Still problem mounting scope

im just a savage junkie, no remingtons. but i know ive seen pix here quite awhile back w guys usin that setup on remmys w no problems. i still wonder if one of those tactical bolt handles w the round shank that r longer would clear. just a thought

I think this would help. Maybe try to get the rear ring closer to the turret housing too.

Re: Still problem mounting scope

The base needs to be quite a bit higher so your bolt handle will clear the rings. Either that or grind the rings a bit. After you get everything to clear you will most likely loose the skin on your nuckles when you run the bolt if your not careful. This is also going to get you a very high cheek weld. Only other option is to mount the scope in a normal way and scoot up on your stock. Some guys put 2 rings in front of the turret, but you wont have any support on the back of your tube and it will most likely bend easily if droped. It will definetly flex quite a bit when you shoot. How far off is the eye relief it if you were to mount it normaly?

Re: Still problem mounting scope

how about... mounting an extended AR style base backwards? it may not be ideal, but it would move everything out of the way. just a thought

looks like its either that or mod the rings and/or bolt handle for clearance

Re: Still problem mounting scope

I looked at my Seekins medium rings. They would clear. They are chamfered at the bottom, not sharp 90 degreed. That is, they make that 90 degree turn by turning 45 degrees, then turning another 45 degrees. Hope you understand what i'm saying.
