Stock choice help

I am debating between a T2 (A3) style stock or a T5 style for my build. I thought i wanted T2/A3 buy then i got to handle a KMW sentinel stock and I really liked that thumb hole style. It just felt really comfortable so now I'm looking at the T5. I was hoping someone in the Houston area had one that I could handle a bit to help me make my decision.

I'm thinking T5 over the sentinel for cost and weight purposes. I already have a bottom metal and don't need adjustable LOP so the cost for those in the kmw would be wasted. Plus the kmw weighs a good bit more then a 90% carbon T5.

Anyone that can help out would be appreciated whether it be to try out a stock or just insights.

Re: Stock choice help

I know that one mistake that i have made and some others might have made in the past is only trying out a new stock in prone. I love the thumbhole stock in prone position but when i tried it in kneeling, seated, etc. i realized that it wasn't for me. I am by no means trying to talk you out of the thumbhole stock i'm just saying that you should get behind them as you would shoot them if you can get your hands on them. Hope this helps you out

Re: Stock choice help

Yeah that's why I'm hoping to try a few out. I will be hunting with this setup but not a ton. Once or twice a year for now so I'd rather have a good long range setup and just make it work to hunt then the other way around.

Re: Stock choice help

T5s are my new favorite used to run a5 s but te thumb hole really helps me get more solid when shooting positional. Being able to get a full hand wrap on the grip or hold it like a vertical grip stock is really nice

This is what I was thinking. A traditional hunting stock has a slimmer grip area to make it easy to hold the gun in different positions, however an A2-A5 style vertical is great for prone but seems to be tougher to hold in other positions bc you don't have a full hand grip. The thumb hole (T5 and sentinel) seems to be good for both. Similar to a tactical AR style rifle, but this is just from limited observations since I haven't gotten to handle many of them.

Re: Stock choice help

I don't have any Manners stocks, but I do have a McMillan A3, A5 and A3/A5. But I may be switching over to Rock Solid Stocks soon. Initial reports have been positive. I should have one in hand in the next week or so to play with. I don't know if that helps since I'm an hour away.

Re: Stock choice help

I have the Manners T5 with 90% fill and love it. Have shot it prone, sitting and kneeling and don't have anything but positive to say for it. If you were in Tucson I would be happy to let you try it - I bought mine without trying it and got lucky but sure would be nice to get behind a couple before buying. I have a friend with the T4, and although I like it I still prefer the T5.
On another note Manners is absolutely top notch with their customer service!

I've shot behind an A5 and plan to again on my buddies rifle. Thanks for the offer though.
