Looking at the B&C medalist tactical with veetical grip. Also seen the H&S pro series m24 thats roughly 200 more at stockys. Is the H&S really worth it and why. PS I dont mind paying the extra if its worth it.

Re: Stock comparison advice wanted

I think you should consider the B&C Tactical Medalist style 5 (link below) It is heavier, but helps a lot with recoil from my 7mag and is rock solid. (shooting a 308 with this would probably have same or less recoil thank a 243 sporter) The additional weight also helps balance a heavier barrel. Very adjustable and comfortable, and groups were noticeably better. Sendero 700 dropped right in but the bolt handle when closed did barely contact the stock (bottom surface of the bolt handle). The sendero/varmint Rem barrel contour is free floated with no modification, if you have any heavier barrel contour than that you'd likely be sanding it down.

Some don't care for the vertical grip but I really like it, keeps my thumb on top in line with the axis of the rifle. The forend is slightly tapered which helps adjust for slight elevation changes off of bags. I have over a thousand rounds through this setup and no complaints. The bolt on my LA comes right out but if using a cleaning rod guide it's best to take the cheek peice off when cleaning. Butt pad adjusts for elevation (slides on a track), cant and length of pull. Unless you're shooting a 300 WM or 338LM the stock butt pad is fine.

I went green, but would probably get black or black web next time. Good experience with Stockys, this is the one I have:

I would probably also recommend the hook version if you rather wrap your thumb around or go with an AICS. The HS probably has a thicker palm swell. It'll be interesting when the new remington sniper chassis becomes available, curious how folks would praise or despise it. Check this out:

H&S makes some great stocks really solid. I've got an MCM A5 on my 308 but I'm going with an HS for my 243. Check out snipercountrypx.com they're cheaper then stockys

Re: Stock comparison advice wanted

I had two A2 Medalists, and sold one to help finance a Manners T2.

The A2 Medalist is a great stock, especially at its price point, but damn if the Manners hasn't spoiled me on any other stock. Shot the thing for the first time yesterday and felt recoil was noticeably decreased from the A2 Medalist.

You need to think about what you want it to be. Do you like the palm swell of nicer Remington models? Do you like beaver tail forend? do you want to mount rails on it? how important is adjustable cheek and Length of Pull to you? all these come into play. Cant go wrong with HS Precision, AICS or AX, XLR, Manners, Mcree, or McMillan. I personally like the style of the McMillan A5/A4 and HS Precision models. But thats me - I care a lot about the cheek weld and Length of pull being adjustable. Thats something i've always looked for, since i learned its importance. You need to look at the options of them too. McMillan will build you an amazing stock exactly how you want it, you choose what goes on it and they make it to your order - Downside is it can take up to 6mo for an epic quality stock.
