Bird flu.....everyone get those mask back out. Those still in mask, add a second or third.
Spring time and lots of folks putting out bug poison granulars around their yard.
I've not seen a single hummingbird this year. I figured the hard freeze down into Texas and Mexico had something to do with it.

A little off topic, but I have noticed that this is the first year that we haven't seen any bluebirds around here. That is highly unusual for these parts.
We have bluebirds out the wazoo here.
I think there may be some shifts in populations.
I do not think its anything caused by man made climate change.
As Mtn said above, granular bug control is a real possibility. Also, depending upon your AO, it could be mosquito spraying or even bug/weed control spraying by farmers. None of these things are without consequence to the surrounding environment.
I go out a lot and travel a good deal (SE), and haven’t seen any I can recall.

Only dead one I say was yesterday.........while mowing the yard.......looked like a Bluejay...........didn't have but a few feathers ...........he must have fallen from the nest........splat........I kicked him off the sidewalk...........
About 5 killed themselves running into my windows this past year, although not without numerous survivors. Watched a robin impact but survive. It hobbled over to a tree branch and did a little swirly drunk hobble for a while trying to keep itself upright with gravity, looked like a cartoon reaction. If they hit the window when I'm in the room, makes me jump every time.
Watched two crows steal a young bird from the parents. They would pick it up to about 15 feet, then drop it on the pavement, peck at it hard a few times then repeat.
All the dead birds I've seen lately have not died from mysterious circumstances.

Weird but yes, here is Southern California I have noticed about 3-4 dead birds a week when talking a dog for a walk. Same walk I have taken for last 12 years and never seen before. Was kinda wondering why so many?
