Subsonic 308 reload

What powder do you use for subsonic 308 reloads? 220gr bullets?

Never did it, I believe Trail Boss is somewhat the go to powder.

I have been using 10.5 grains of trailboss with a 208 amax seated at 2.850. Seem to work out pretty well at 100. Shoots around 3/4-1 inch.

Trailboss here for those bullets. I don't know of a better powder for that application.

Concur on trailboss for 308 subs. Several factors to consider rifling twist, bullet weight, altitude etc. Chronograph is a must. Start higher charge weight and work down

For 168 gr bullets, I use 8.8gr of Trail Boss for an 18" barrel. Quite accurate as well.

I have used Red Dot, 700X, Clays, an many other fast burning pistol/shotgun powers. My std load for a 308 is 7.8grs of Red Dot pushing a 217gr cast projo lite w/a CCI 200 primer. Jacketed projos in subs work OK buy just barely, if your shooting past 200yds.
The main issue with the faster powders is a double charge can happen if you are not very careful.
I use RD as a std load as it meters well, but use 700x when it has to be in the eye socket.

No, it's a lyman 210gr mold cast with a # 2 mix. Lubed an gas checked it weighs 217. I ran a 193 (total weigh) for years upon years before moving into this load.
