I am getting ready to purchase my first real set of binocular's but I am not looking to dive into a $1k-$2k pair, just about $200 dollars.

Thusfar I've seemed to narrow it down to the Sightron SII Blue Sky 8x32 or the Steiner Military/Marine 8x30. I am hoping someone can chime in on their experiences with these two models, either or both. I am also open to suggestions beyond these two models.

Thanks.

A used set of Vortex Vipers would be a great place to start. With their warranty it makes it a little easier to shop places like EBay because even if there is an issue with the steal you pick up you can just send it in for service.

What's the intended use?

I'm a butthurt for 7x50s, Fujinon and Steiner.

Favorite for light weight and sharpness are Fujinon Mariner WP-XL. Individual eye focus, has great depth of field and slight 3D effect. There's an internal compass version too, WPC-XL. There have been some very affordable surplus border patrol Fujinon 7x50s floating around eBay, too. I have a few of the $100 pairs.

Steiner Police are another packaging of the solid Steiner performance.
