Rifle Scopes Super Sniper Scopes

Re: Super Sniper Scopes

I have two of them, one lit one not. Nice scope, for the money none better. Think you'll like it, should have gotten one earlier. Bought one on group buy and one on cyber monday, saved some money, you'll find the ss scopes well liked here.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes

yes and yes. Ok, I've only had mine a couple weeks so I can't speak to long term reliability but the quality of the build is certainly there and I have every expectation of it lasting longer than me. I think the MSRP is fairly priced, picking it up on sale in the forums here, or on a manufacturer deal like the black friday package makes it a very very good value.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes

There are easily half a dozen threads on this scope you could research. Generally the impressions given by others has been very, very positive.

As far as reliability, mine has been rock-solid. I don't baby my rifles or scopes, but they don't see much abuse either. Regardless the SS 5-20 feels very solid and the turret clicks, while not as crisp as my PH, are much better than the two Mk IV's in the safe. Repeatability thus far has been flawless, and the glass rivals that of scopes costing much more.

The SS's were a smokin' bargain during the group buy, and I don't think they are overpriced at the current cost.

If I had to post a "con", it would be the mil-quad reticle. It seems a bit too cluttered and busy for me. But that's personal preference.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes

Hey thanks for the reply, I thing Im going to go the Super Sniper direction. Its been a hard decision but you just cant beat the reputation these things have. I'm gonna have to learn how to use mil dials, but it should be fun. I cant wait to look through one of these SS scopes!

I have both the 4-16 PST and the 5-20 SS. In short: you really can't go wrong with either one. Subjectively, the SS feels a bit more rugged, and the glass is definitely better. But mind that when I say the SS is better, it is only incrementally so. I prefer the PST reticle to the SS.

Tracking is on par one to the other. Both are mil/mil FFP and illuminated. And both carry an outstanding warranty.

If you're on a budget and need to squeeze every penny I'd have no problems recommending the Vortex. If you want to know if the SS is worth several hundred dollars more, you really need to find someone locally who has one and get behind it.

A nice side note is that both will hold their value well if you later feel the need to upgrade.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes

SWFA scopes are very nice and are good to go. Great bang for the buck scope in my opinion. The PST is also a really good scope, I wouldn't mind having either, there is just the problem of having more money or less money.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes

I've been a long time user of the brand, more than 8 years in fact. My 1st 16x rear focus is still going strong on an AR50, after close to 1000 rounds. It's never come off zero and several people have made x-ring hits at long range alley with it. I love it.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes

I have a new SS 5-20x50 with the illuminated reticle and the scope is amazing! I just do not find that the reticle illumination is on par with what is currently out there, some say it works for them but all in all that is my problem with it. Having both an illuminated IOR and the illuminated SS I think the IOR has won the fight and I am going to sell the SS.

P.S. the optics are identical from what I can tell. It really comes down to budget and personal preference.
