Looking for some help. I want to get a suppressor for use at the range but would like to have the benefit of a brake while hunting. (In OK we can only hunt hogs with suppressors) I would greatly appreciate some help:
Is there a brake that can be put on a suppressor QD?
If so does it impact accuracy?
If not does simply removing suppressor and enduring recoil impact accuracy?
I apologize in advance if these are "stupid questions" but I have not found any straight forward answers. Thanks...

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

There are several muzzle brakes that are also suppressor QD's at the same time, off the top of my head AAC, Ops Inc, and Surefire all have them available. No doubt several others do also.

You could also get a thread mount suppressor and a muzzle brake that share the same threads, and swap between the two if you are trying to be frugal.

Accuracy should not be impacted with a quality threading job for either, though POI may change just due to different barrel harmonics from added weight on the end of the barrel.

I am sure others will be along to mention others I forgot.

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

The good news is you have a few outstanding choices.

I have not tested the BA from TBAC as my 30P-1 I got right before they released that system.

Using the RAD brake and the 30P-1, I experience virtually no POI shift from unbraked, braked, and suppressed across two 308s, a bolt and a gasser. The bolt gun previously had a Badger FTE, and the FTE produced a 6 MOA elevation shift versus unbraked. The RAD brake, no shift.

If you go with the BA system, you still have the option of pulling the brake and running plain muzzle, but with the RAD brake it has an allen to hold it in place, so it is easy to remove.

You'll be fine with either system.

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

I'll be switching from a 30p-1 and a Rad brake as well with a pinch collar muscle brake. Hopefully I'll get my can in a few weeks. I'm just south of you in between Hennessey and Dover.

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

Pyplynr, who are you using to get your gear? I have talked to Bills in Enid, Code of Arms in Shattuck and have left a message for Machineguns Plus in Piedmont. Thanks, Ryan

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

Brandon @ MachineGuns Plus is who I am going through. I didn't know Bill's did any C3 stuff. I don't shop much in there. Give Brandon a call and he'll hook you up with anything you might need.

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

Bills is under new ownership. Nothing against Bill, I always liked him. The shop is, however, much better now. Much better selection with some C3 and prices more in line.

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

It seemed they were a bit pricey on a lot the last time I was I there for firearm stuff. It always seemed like they were busy, but when you stood back and watched, it was just coffee shop talk with the regulars. So I quit going in. I get most of my reloading supplys in El Reno at 3rdGSS or at Bison SS in Bison if I can catch ol man Dobrovolny there on the weekends.

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

I agree. There is still a fair amount of coffee talk at Bills. I do like going out to Bison. Have got a safe and few other things out there. Good People...

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

Hey guys I am going to look at Elite Iron Bravo 1 3 piece system in am. Anyone have any experience with this system that they wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks...

Re: Suppressor / Brake swaps

I have a couple of AAC 762SD suppressors, I enjoy using the rifles with out suppressors and benefitting from the dramatic recoil reduction using the AAC muzzle break. With suppressors, I notice a repeatable POI change so I know where to hold. I do hunt with the suppressors but find myself occasionally removing them during long walks because an extra 2 lbs of steel hanging up front fatigues me after 8 to 10 hours. I hope I was some help.
