I had My heart set on a AAC Scar, However I am now looking at this model surefire. The adapter for the SF is capaple of slipping over .890" barrel and the AAC is limited to .775" I intend on using this on my Crusader, Savage for Sub-Sonics and on my AR. I really don't want to turn down the barrel on my Crusader. Does anyone have any experience with this Suppressor? Thanks Brandon

Again, the AAC can doesnt reflex backwards over the barrel, so why would you need to contour the barrel?

I dont think the mount reflexes back over the barrel eltiher but if it did why not just have the barrel contoured back to where the mount will start and have it look seamless into the mount ?

Or go with a 762SD

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

The OP is not talking about the AAC adapter and can. He is talking about the SF, and yes the barrel will need to be turned down a little further back because the SF brake/adapter goes back over the threaded portion of the barrel. The threads are a little bit further up inside the brake

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

I know which one I'd buy:
SF-Left AAC-Right

Now I know the SF has been fired and the AAC hasn't. But it puts to rest SF saying they have a fully welded core.

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

All along my buddies have been getting cans. Originally I said "Nah" Not worth the money. Then I shot Bronco's AAC and PK's AAC Scar and now I am sold. Super quiet and light weight. I know nothing about the Surefires, If they are spot welded that is a sad comparison to the competetion. AAC Rocks!!! Just wish the Bore on the adapter was a bit larger. My Crusader has a 25" Barrel and I want a reflex design. -Brandon

Arevalo, the picture stands for itself. I just believe everyone should be informed before they buy something. I gave my opinion, and I didn't tell him which one to buy. He will figure it out.

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

It's not that there is a difference but the fact that they took a well used "other brand" and a much older design at that and decided to cut it up and try and compair it to a brand spanken new one of there's.

Now I'm not saying one is better than the other but I'm a fan of compairing apples to apples.

Oh and I have seriously looked at the surefire MG version but the threads are a non std thread for most bolt guns out there and the weight is getting up there abit.

What is the thread pattern on the MG version? It does weigh 10oz more than the 762SS version, but it would be nice to not have to turn down a barrel.

I can't speak on their new design, honestly I didn't know they had one. I would like to see it though.

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

As for apples to apples this shows the cores. And again as I stated above, I know the SF is used and the AAC is new. But the core is not fully welded as the manufacturer had stated.

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

SureFire has a end mount muzzle brake coming out here in the next week or two. It is going to be the MB762-211C. It is for 5/8 X 24 thread pattern and because it is an end mount you will not have to turn a large portion of your barrel down like with the MB762SS brake.

This adaptor will be used with the FA762K can however and not the FA762SS.

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

Fockell,
Did not think you could have cans in MO. Has that changed?
I have used the 7.62MG and love it. Have many thousands of rounds down it and it is like new.. It is a bit heavy, 10 oz more than the 7.62 SS. Same size. Very quiet. I took off the little "clicker) and just tighten it up by hand. Holds fine and is quiet to put on now. Minimal POI shift, depending on rifle. Some are about zero, some as much as 1 moa. Consistant change. And you can just put it on your M240 belt fed and go to town. Don't have that one yet!. Love the can. I also use it on some 6.5 rifles with excellent results, it actually seems quiter than the .308 stuff. It is also just about right for tapping someone on the noggan, if required.

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

Can have them in MO now. Have to get a Curios & Relics type firearms licends. Then pay the $200 tax and apply for one. Seems rather complicated to obtain one. I really wasn't going to spend the money, but I want one now. About how much is the Surefire models?

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

Fockell,
When I purchsed mine, it was about 1100 from Impact guns. I think Vaugn can be contacted at [email protected]. He is great to deal with. It might have listed higher, but I ordered the SS and somehow the MG was shipped instead. With all the paper work to deal with, I just went with it. It will take a different adaptor, which I think you know. It is very quiet, a little heavy and will last forever on a bolt gun. A guy might cook it on an M240 after a few years, but on a bolt gun, never..

Re: SF762MG Anyone Using One of These???

I just shot my 6x with the SCAR-H SD tonight. It does seem to be a little more quiet than with 308. The P dogs are going to love it.

It does reflex over the barrel. I have to have them turned down about 2.5 inches back from the muzzle.
