Razor Clam Digs are going on around these here parts, uh huh. Love them tasty bastards. Dug'm commercially and for sport and we lose folks every damn year who think that stroll in the dark has no consequences if ya ain't pay'n proper attention. Well, we just lost two in one night literally minutes apart. One on the Long Beach Peninsula around Ocean Park and the other on the other side of the mouth of the Willapa Bay in an area around North Cove.
Anyhow, I get it. You can die just trying to cross the street, but clam digging? We've pushed the limits in skiffs on the Bay heading back and forth to the spits in weather we shouldn't have been in many times. It was stupid. No two ways about it. Just plain stupid. But if you're strolling around in the dark on the edge of the ocean, DURING THE WINTER, you only have like two things to think about. Spotting key holes in the sand and the damn surf. Emphasis on 'surf'.
Wow. Just wow.
