I have a 6.5x47 built on a Surgeon 591

The rifle has always cratered primers with moderate loads would a Large firing pin be the cause?

I'm pushing a Berger 140 Hybrid using 37.1gr Varget with Virgin Lapua brass and CCI 450 primers @ 2735fps out of a 26" barrel measured on a Labradar

I've never had any sticky bolt lift

Yep. I have the same issue on my surgeon 6x47. Cratered primers at nearly every charge weight and it will cut holes in them much over 3000 fps with a 115 dtac. I'll be getting mine bushed when I replace the barrel.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant that having my large firing pin bushed by Gretan fixed the problem for me shooting a 6.5x47.

They used to only sell large firing pins, and now you can get small firing pins for 6/6.5x47 or 6 Dasher/BR etc....

Ah ok makes sense now

I was suppose to have a small firing pin I specifically asked for it. I couldn't figure out why my primers were cratering with a moderate load after thinking about it over last while I checked the firing pin it appears to be a large firing pin (.075)

Yep that's a large. I would be a little annoyed that I didn't get what I paid for. It honestly is just as good to be bushed, but there is wait time and cost associated with that.

Yea a little but things happen

I will touch base with the gunsmith who built it and see if we can come to a solution

I didn't know Surgeon had ever moved to OK. I thought the company was started in OK and was moved to AZ within the last year after the change of ownership.

Yea, NVM. Coffee had not kicked in... I have one they just built at the end of 2017. I'd imagine is says AZ on it, but it's at the gunsmiths and I can't verify it.
