Surgeon 591

After reading up on here, I've decided to start my build up. I called Surgeon, but the 591 is on a 2-3mo back order. Does anyone know where else I can find one? Here's what I'm planning:
.243 may go with an AI
Surgeon 591 repeater
Bagder Ord metal
Jewel Trigger
Bartlein 24-26" barrel
B&C Tactical stock
topped with a NF 5.5-22x56 with the NP-2DD

If anybody has any other suggestions please let me know. I'm just getting into LR shooting after going thru LRM back at Riley.

hey bud you might as well order one your barrel is most likley what will hold up your build. my bartlein barrel to four months to get here from the day i ordered it.

Just order it, by the time all the other parts come together 2 months will be gone.

I'd go Surgeon BM and a McMillan stock. Unlike some here, I'm a fan of BC stocks for some applications, but honestly that stock will hurt your resale value when you go to sell it. Spend a few more bucks and get the McMillan.

When I called I gave them my contact info, and was told I would be notified when the order could be filled. I still have 2mos left in the suck, so I have some time to spare, but I know the itch is gonna be bad when I get back to KS.

J, I'm sure you've heard this before but I don't plan on selling it, but everything has a price.

PS....That barrel has an 8 month lead time.

See the group buy section, get in on the Rock Creek buy and get it much sooner.

Savage, I got a couple of farms that I groundhog hunt on. I have a range finder and Ipod touch that I downloaded Iballistics on. its worked out great on my Colt Hbar. My longest shot was lasered at 452 with a 50gr ballistic tip. I like the reticle design. Not overly complicated. I don't need mil dots for distance, and iballistics tells me the holdovers so...

Dude just order it. My Surgeon took 3 months to get but I'l still waiting on the barrel, Krieger, which has a 20-25 week lead time. Also way the .243 and not the 260?

So I ordered the action a couple of days ago from Brownells. The website said they were in stock, but they are still on back order.

Chickeneye I hunt groundhogs on a few private farms.

Lazuris: here is one of my reasonings for not going with a .260. A .243 running 115s at 3150 fps beats both the .260 Rem (2850 fps) and the 6.5-284 (2950 fps) running 142 MatchKings.

243 is a fine round for mule deer and less. It's only short-coming is a bit less barrel life
