So I just called and placed an order for a Surgeon 591 action! I was so excited and BAM! 2 month wait time! haha, welcome to the custom rifle world I guess!

But it'll give the barrel and stock time to come in too... so I guess it's not that bad.

Re: Surgeon 591

Funny you ask, it's going to look just like your rifle.

Going to do a Manners T4A, still trying to decide if I'm going to do the Mini Chassis or not. Don't know much about them, still reading around.

I'm building this rifle to be tough as nails. Surgeon seems to be the toughest action with the rail built in and Manners is what I've read to be the toughest stocks.

Re: Surgeon 591

Customer service at Surgeon is top notch! I took over a year to get my build done, ordered the action last because it had the shortest wait, had all the components sent directly to Surgeon and they built an incredible rifle for me. Custom .308 Scalpel.
The 591SA is the epitome of a solid, accurate action. And Surgeon Rifles is a quality, American owned and operated company.

Northland, Robert Gradous (Gradous Precision ) had plenty of bartlein and kreiger barrels in stock ready to install about a month ago. I took him my Surgeon to his shop and he barreled mine (Bartlein 308 MTU 23 inches) He comes Highly recommended from the people at Surgeon, and did a absolute high quality precision job as I waited. I am in the machine trades and I was impressed. He is south of Augusta, Georgia. Give him a call.

Re: Surgeon 591

I got my 591 about 11 months ago with zero wait time. Just sent my check in and they mailed the action out to Jered Joplin at APA, in Georgia. Like clockwork. In my humble opinion it's the best all around action on the market. It's stiffness is an understatement.

Re: Surgeon 591

A little less than a year ago I ordered an XL Repeater direct from Surgeon with no wait. Knowing what the wait is on a 591 I had a local gunshop quote me a price on the 591 through Brownells. They quoted me $1355 with tax and shipping, so I ordered it and should have it in a couple days. Surgeon's direct price is $1295.00. Brownell's retail price is $1461.99. Brownells still shows them in stock if anyone wants to go that route.
