Tag team on this one. Dad and son putting some sticks together.
first is a Surgeon chambered in 6mmx45 (necked up 223) setup to shoot 95 Bergers. Stock is an AI chassis deal.
2nd is a 16.25" 308 fitted for a suppressor and squashed into an H/S stock. Not crazy on the stock, but were just doing assembly so I can't call this one a "full build."
First little change was whittling on the bolt handle inlet to clear the Surgeon action. Instead of dickering with a sine plate to match up the angle I just surfaced it. .005" stepover with a .1875" OD endmill made quick work of it.
Next was wizzing .06" off the bottom of the recoil lug. Seemed to make more sense this way than cutting the stock again. Trying to catch that perfect edge on the stock and ensuring it was perfectly square was more trouble than the outcome. cutting the lug is far less drama and cleaner looking. Especially since we'll be coating this one. (both actually)
The 308 is a short/fat little chit. Nothing too exotic. Accurized action that I did a few months ago and a barrel job. I'll be stuffing a Badger floor metal into it also.
Should be about wrapped up with these two tomorrow.
Woo hoo!
