I ordered a pair of the new 8x42 Swarovski EL Range binoculars from Cabelas. The box arrived today and when I opened it I found 10x42's instead of the 8x42's. The primary purpose is ranging UKD steel targets out past 1,000 yards and ranging prairie rats from 300 - 1,000 yards.
I ordered the 8x42's over the 10's because I don't believe there is much advantage in 10 power over 8 and I decided to err on the side of field of view and less perceived handshake.
Do any of the luminaries on The Hide have any side-by-side experience with both the 8x42's and the 10x42's to make a recommendation? - What do I do: send them back or shut up and be grateful.
The range finder rocks and the glass is phenomenal ... better than the 7x42 Leica's I have. I never thought I would say that.
Thank you, Good shooting ...
