Just looking to get any opinion or review on a super sniper 20x42, Weaver T36 or better scope for 1000 yard shooting with a 6.5 Creedmoor Savage LRP. I haven't seen anything on them and I don't want to pay 700 more for 5-20 SS or nightforce variable power scope I will leave on the Max power all the time.

The 20x SS is a very nice scope and will serve you well for your intended purposes. That said, while I agree that the Weaver T36 might be a bit much in all environmental conditions out to 1k, the Weaver T24 is also an excellent optic that you shouldn't overlook if you are set on a fixed, high-power optic.

.

I have both. Well, not exactly both: I have the Weaver T36 and the SS 5-20X. And both are extremely good in their cost range.

But each scope has its own purpose.

If your 1000 yard target is paper, like F-Class with the tiny X ring, then I would go with the Weaver T36.

But if your 1000 yard target are metal, like in the tactical/sniper matches, then the SS20X would be more usefull.

On the other side, if you spend more money, you can get one scope that will do it all, and do well, like a variable 8-32X or something in this range.

LRCampos.

Re: SWFA 20x42 MRAD or Weaver T36

I own a Weaver T-24 and several NF bench rest scopes...along with a few Leupolds and other NF's. Couple of thoughts:
1. A fixed 36X scope is going to be unusable in bad mirage....I know. The 24x is still useable. I'd only use a variable for 36X because you will need to dial it back when mirage is bad.
2. My Weaver T24 has been a most excellent scope: totally reliable turrets and decent glass. I do not feel at a disadvantage AT ALL when using my Weaver vs. the NF or other expensive scopes. Sure the NF has better glass, but that really does not make a difference in your score. Reliable turrets are everything and Weaver has that. For $350 or so, this is a great choice.
3. No experience with the SWFA scope.

PS. A final note, very high mag scopes are special-purpose, mainly for target shooting. Lower magnification scopes will be a better multi-purpose choice.

I have a couple of the SS 20X and shot past 1000 with them and used them in Fclass matches, while the price is great the SS 5-20 is way better. Fixed power on high mirage days are tough to shoot.
look up Sightron SIII, I have a couple of them now and Ia m very pleased with optics, tracking etc. for the little more money they are a good compromise.
