I'd like some thoughts on the T/C Icon- they are running a $150 mail in rebate offer. I love the smooth lines of the Icon, the wood stocks look nice too. They say 1moa accurate too.

Any input on it? Anyone shoot one? Own one?

Last I checked, they were going for between $800 and $950 depending on the model

Re: T/C Icon for hunting

A friend of mine has one in .308. Its a shooter with Black Hills 180's, I think it was. We were getting .5 to .75 MOA. Never shot it with anything else. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Re: T/C Icon for hunting

I used one last year in 308. It shot between 1/2 and 3/4 in with Nosler 165 accubonds.

I really liked the rifle itself, but wanted to swap out the stock for a synthetic and could not find one other than the Hogue offered from the factory.

I got mine from Gander Mountain and paid just of $600 after the same rebate was offered last year.

Re: T/C Icon for hunting

I shot a TC Venture, an Icon with cheaper furniture, and it was pretty impressive even with cheap Wally World ammo. I'd imagine the Icon would be even more accurate. TC makes pretty damn good barrels.

fyi-the problem with manners icon stock is that he does not have the bedding block for them. I checked into getting one last year. You can get one but you will have to tear out your bedding block from you crappy plastic stock or just bed it with devcon.

Re: T/C Icon for hunting

I have a 6.5 Creedmoor Icon Precision Hunter and I like it a lot. The trigger is just OK but with reloads it still shoots 3/4 MOA or better and I'm still working on dialing it in. I plan on using it for deer this year and it will be a hell of a lot less weight to haul around compared to my GAP Rock.

Re: T/C Icon for hunting

I'm glad to hear all of these outstanding reviews! It's a rifle I've been interested in for a year or so!

Funny thing is, some other gun/hunting forums guys were complaining of it's weight. All the while I'm thinking.... oh that's heavy to you? You should try walking around mountains with a heavy pack and a 13-15lb rifle. I guess if it's not 6lbs and 20mm, it's not a legit hunting gun in most of their eyes.

Says on the site that the factory aluminum bedding block comes installed. Indicates to me it's a direct swap. Maybe that situation changed in the last year?
