I find myself in Tampa for work a lot, and am considering hauling my kayak down there for after work fun. (Already keep a travel rod in the truck).

How’s the fishing down there? Lot of creeks and oyster bars to fish around?

A few creeks, not a lot of oyster bars, plenty of shallow, grassy stuff to fish in.

The creeks are mostly brackish water, shallow and muddy bottom. They hold a few fish, but not like the creeks down south.

Tons of great fishing in the area. Snook, red fish and speckled trout are abundant in the area. Even simply grabbing some shrimp and fishing the incoming tide under any of the bridges in the area can be fun. I lived down there any used to tear up the sheeps head with light tackle and shrimp.
