I have heard great things about both but have never seen a head-to-head comparison.

I have a Cyclone pending (hopefully within a month if Snooky can get it together!) so I am already committed but the TBAC 30p-1 was on the short list.

I was hoping this could be a venue for those who have experience with both....

Haha, Snooky. That is great. I shot the TBAC 30p-1 on a 6.5 Creedmor and 6.5 Grendel, and it sounded really nice on both platforms. I have 2 thunderbeasts coming in on form 3's as we speak; a 22 and a 223. I really like their cans.

She's my examiner too... last one went "Pending" the first week of November and took another 18 weeks to have the papers in hand... Good luck. It was about 28 weeks total.

I suspect she's extremely back logged and the delays are less her fault and more the fault of the system itself, she turned a 5320.20 for tranport around in about 6 days for me from the time I mailed it to when I had it back.

As far as they go head to head, I've seen a head to head of an old Cyclone (c. 2003-4 I think) vs. a 30P-1 and the difference was impressive, the Cyclone itself is pretty decent. The TBAC guys are making some really nice stuff.

I doubt you're going to be disappointed with the TBAC, I hear the new model Cyclones are supposed to be largely improved but I have yet to hear for my own ears to validate those rumors.

Best of luck getting that thing cleared in the next month from Ms. Snook. I have another one that the papers went in on Feb 7th, the check cleared on Feb 15th, and it's still not "Pending"...

You made the decision, you need to deal with it and stop looking. It doesn't matter anymore unless your going to buy a second one.

I own a Cyclone, and a Ranger and have not regretted my decision once. Its not like you will be at a range and there will be 10-20 others to compare with unless it is a hide get together. I am the only one around here that runs supressed. I try to go to the range when others are not there. It gets really old being watched and all the comments from the unimformed. Its bad enuff when you have custom rifles and optics, then when you put a can on top of it.

I use my Cyclone on just about everything, .308, 7-08, 6.5x47, 30-06, and it will also go on a 300wm soon.

IMHO,
Mark

Re: TBAC 30p-1 vs AAC Cyclone

I have shot both suppressors right next to each other, and on the same rifle on multiple occasions. Both are fine suppressors. Hard to say one is quieter then another IMO. They sound different, but I wouldn't say one is noticeably louder then another. I don't put too much stock into meter readings. They don't tell you the whole story. If you don't want to spend the money, and don't care about titanium, go with the Cyclone. If you don't mind spending a little more, want a little lighter suppressor, get the 30P-1.

I ultimately chose the 30P-1. For the money, it's just hard to beat. Accuracy was on the top of my list on must have and was the deciding factor for me. I've had the 30P-1 on both my 7WSM and old 308 and there was no noticeable POI shift out to 600 yards.
