So we travel 1200 mile to tag some prairie dogs and my friends AI/AT 6.5 CM on the first shot, launched his can downrange about 20'
He apparently didn't tightened it. I told him, in the future, to slip off the Armageddon (or Tab) cover and watch the can thread.

Amazingly, there wasn't an apparent baffle strike. Both the first baffle and exit hole are round. How the hell did the bullet make it through the can without hitting anything?
I'm guessing a partial thread held the can as the bullet passed and gasses/recoil loosened the remaining partial half thread.

Luck was on his side this time, Tell him to check and recheck if he has any doubt!!!! The main thing is no one got hurt, secondly no equipment got damage. Angels were wathing over him at that time because there could havd been a catastrophic failure.

Yeah he lucked up for sure. The only way i see it being undamaged is that the little bullet traveling out of the barrel at 2700-2900 fps was able to exit the suppressor before the recoil, or muzzle blast really affected the can...... either way, yoir friend should be counting his blessings.

I bet he had an OH F*** look on his face!

He did, First shot of the varminting weekend.
There was an abnormally loud sound - then his rifle barrel had a sagging end, the fabric suppressor cover bent, hanging off. As spotter, I saw an impact about 40-50 feet downrange.
The can was gone. I'm thinking so much for a few days of quiet suppressed shooting if he is without a can. "what the hell just happened?"

I did have a spare AX 260 with suppressor, figure we might reconfigure it with the spare 6.5 bbl we had.

He was lucky for sure - I learned from it as well.
