Suppressors Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

I have a 30P that I side by side tested against my buddy's M4-1000 and they were as close to eachother in sound reduction as we could tell without a meter.

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

I talked with Zak (via email) and he said this combo works just fine. I just purchased 2 extra brakes for my tbac 30-ba... I'll be running this can on my OBR, remmy 700 shorty and lwrc M6A3.

Their customer service and willingness to answer any and all questions has not been touched by any other company I've done business with. Hit Zak Smith up here on the hide. He knows his shit.

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

With full power ammo my QD YHM titanium is noticeably quieter on my 556's than it is on my 308. IN MY UNEDUCATED OPINION it's due to the larger bullets making a louder supersonic crack than the smaller 556 bullets. I say this because the sound of the bullet passing by at 50 yds downrange is just about as loud as the sound you hear standing next to the shooter.
So I am THINKING that my suppressor is pretty much handling almost all the muzzle blast, and the noises I hear are the AR action noise and the bullet breaking the sound barrier. edit: I have never heard mine on anything but an AR type firearm.

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

Ran my TBAC 30BA (a 308 can) for the first time today on my AR...worked like a champ.

I had a bunch of old loose 5.56/223 ammo with some soft points--I think I bought it at a sporting goods store in college 20 years ago.

Regardless it was throwing a massive fireball and a pretty good concussion; granted some of that may have been from the TBAC brake.

When I screwed the can on, it was like shooting a 22LR. No blast, and most of the noise was the crack of the bullet...

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

Those that are using the 30p-1, which adapter are you running to get down to 1/2x28? I've seen some on the interwebz, but none say if they have class 3 threads, which the TBAC has. I just picked mine up yesterday and it won't fit on 2 of my rifles that apparently have class 2 threads.

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

I you have doubts about either just call the company and ask them about the adaptor's specs. I'm in the same boat as you....30 days or so my new M&P shows up and I will be using my TBAC 30P-1 can on it. Let me know how yours works when you get it.

Thanks.

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

Clarification on threads.

Class 2 is looser than Class 3. If it's too tight for a 30P-1 or our brake, it means the threads are tighter than Class 3 (which for an external thread means larger), which means it's out of any thread spec.

There is nothing tighter than Class 3 -- if it's larger than 3a, it's an interference (ie permanent) fit.

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

Zak,

So if I want to shoot both a .223 and the .308 using the 30P-1 which thread class do you suggest I ask? I plan on calling the company before I buy so I dont have any issues with returns etc.

Thanks!

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

All I know is when I tried to put my 30p-1 on the factory threads of my Remington AAC-SD barrel it would start ok, but then it started threading rough, so I stopped and unscrewed it. The can screws on flawlessly on the threads I had Chad Dixon cut on another barrel. Sounds like I need to find a smith close that can fix the factory Remington threads.

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

Another happy 223 shooter with a 30P-1. Zero complaints. I'm glad I can have one can that works well on several calibers. I went with a thread adapter from a SH member that makes them. There's a long post about it somewhere...

Post it up. I'm in exact same boat. About 2 months out on paperwork and getting my 30p-1 and TiRant .45. Will be running the TBAC on my GAP/Surgeon, and LMT 5.56 (hopefully .300 bo soon...).

Re: Tbac30p-1 on a 5.56

This is great to see. I just set up my trust yesterday and my first purchase will be a TB 30P-1 to run on my 300wm, 300wsm and 223 AR for now, as well as 243 and 300BLK in the future.
