After the address from the President and Iraqi PM, a buddy sent me a link to this, and I thought it was a nice companion piece for veterans of the 9 years of war in Iraq who might wonder what Iraq and Iraqi forces are looking like in 2011.

The US's national debt has increased by $5 trillion in the last three years, and not for the betterment of US national security.

That is a very conservative number. Also that cost is for right now and doesn't include future costs which have analysts forecasting/estimating to be from 3-5 trillion.(Including Afghanistan) The long term costs includes stuff like lifetime VA care for wounded, Iraqi programs, etc. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/29/cost-of-war-iraq-afghanistan_n_887084.html
we have yet to reap any rewards from our involvement in iraq. I spent almost 2 years of my life in that place, and lost some good friends there. Everyday I struggle with the idea that it was a complete waste of time, money, and lives.....
