Rifle Scopes Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x32 mm

Re: Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x32 mm

No regrets with mine at all. It is an excellent, excellent scope. Great glass, solid controls, and an independent magnification ring unlike its bigger brothers.

I will admit however that I think I'm spoiled by larger objectives. At 10x, mine gets dark a bit too fast in low-light hunting situations. Even NF glass can't make up for a small exit pupil. I've since moved it from my Remington 700 to my RECCE where the 32mm objective seems more at home.

It would have stayed on the 700 had it been a 40-44mm objective. The Remmy will soon be wearing a new Vortex PST. The 2.5-10x44mm IOR is also worth a look.

Re: Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x32 mm

I have one on an m1a. No complaints, great little scope and perfect for the m1a.
For a Gradous built .308 I might consider some higher magnification. The nightforce 5.5-22 NXS or even the 8-32NXS would fit the bill.
I have the 8-32 on a bolt action and I personally like that magnification range.
It all depends on what you want to do with the rifle, but you might want to look through a 5.5-22 before you make a final decision.
Then again, maybe you have better eyesight than I do

Also, he is a nightforce dealer and may be able to get you some good deals on the scopes.

Oh, if you get a 2.5-10, don't do what I did and think the windage range is to small. It is self limiting kinda like a zerostop, so you have to remove the knob if you need to move more than 2.5moa when zeroing(needed to on the m1a because of the mount) but with a precision built rifle, you probably won;t have that trouble.

Re: Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x32 mm

Appreciate the info guys!!

My new Gradous rifle is a smaller compact hunting rifle, not a long range shooter. That is why I am looking at the NightForce Compact 2.5-10x32

Have a 2.5-10x32 on a POF .223 and POF .308. Great scopes. I have the zero stop versions.

I wish the magnification ring was like the bigger NF's and I wish it tuned the same direction. Also think the illumination should be reversed (lightest to brightest instead of brightest setting first)

Re: Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x32 mm

I have mine on my SPR. I have shot it out to 500yds and for CQB carbine matches. Out to 500 it is fine, any farther and I would opt for the NXS, 15X or 22X50mm obj. I have the 8-32X50 on my 7mmWSM and it is awsome. I love the Nightforce scopes, great glass and function for a mid priced scope, compared to US Optics, Schmidt and Bender, Swvorski, Hendsolt, etc.

Re: Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x3

I think that scope would pair with a Seven nicely. I had one with the R2 & Zstop and it was just a dandy. For hunting, at low light (and in the woods), I did find the R2 a bit fine. But with the Illum. rheostat easily accessible on the left side of the housing, a quick dial to 'red' allowed the R2 to again contrast well under those conditions.

That said, and given that R2's horizontal subtensions are kinda big to hold wind effectively, I'd stick with the NP-1 reticle for a hunting stick. For comparison, The NP-1 subtends 4 moa from center to the horizontal duplex part of the reticle (at 10x), where the R2's horizontal stadia are 5 MOA (at 10x)...

Still have two 24mm Compacts with NP-1s and very much like them for hunting purposes. Of course, the new Velocity Reticles offered would be worthwhile, if you can match your ballistics to one...

Which reticle were you considering?

I wouldnt buy one without the zero stop, its an excellent scope, clear glass, nice and compact.I have one on my RRA spr style rifle.I chose mildot/mrad turrets zero stop.

Re: Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x3

i've got a 5.5-22x56 zero stop npr2 on my remington 700 in 280 ackley improved. i like nightforce products and plan to use a 2.5-10x32 on an ar10/ 308 ar of some kind in the next year or two.

mine had done an awesome job so far.

Re: Tell me your thoughts on a NightForce 2.5-10x3

I have one on my FNAR and it is a great scope. I have shot it out to 600 yards with no issues. I am sure it will do great out to 800 yards. The glass is great. Make sure you get the Zero Stop version cause on the compact NF scopes there are no horizontal graduation lines on the elevation turret to let you know where your position. So without zero stop, if someone just rotates your turret you will be screwed.

i am considering one for my ar-10 build...from all reviews i have read, this seems to be the perfect scope for an ar-style rifle
