Tell me your thoughts, TAC21 chassis

Had a McRee loved it, running a W3 and love it. Now I am considering the TAC21. Who is or has ran one? Need positive and negative feedback. Thanks

They're a good chassis system, but they are really costly since you need to ad all the AR furniture on top of the almost $700 cost.

Yes, I have the furniture just wondering about ergonomics, durability and reliability. The 20 moa rail is built in the chassis which is a unfamiliar feature to me.

The expensive for what it is x2. Plus it makes you uninstall the trigger to put it in and out of the chassis. And people have a concern about the scope rail being separate from the action.

All of the above but I really like it and it's as solid as a tank...don't worry about the scope rail it's probably the most solid connection in existance.

Definitely not for me. How much does the chassis weigh with the PRS stock?

Man it sure looks cool. I've seen one at a range before but I didn't get a chance to shoot it or anything. I talked to the guy shooting it and he said he liked it, not something to run around with, but as far as the scope rail being part of the chassis there didn't seem to be any problem. I'm sure it will be fine if you install it correctly. As far ergos go... I'm pretty sure it's going to feel a helluva lot like an AR-10 no?

My XLR uses AR furniture and it sure feels like an AR, I even accidentally reached for the AR safety selector with my thumb a couple times. The only weird part about the TAC 21 for me is that it won't let me place my thumb on top to pull the bolt up with my fingers (my preferred method of runnin' a bolt), with the Tac21 you pretty much have to grip it and rip it, just as one would with a Ruger RPR.

Sweet looking rig! Is the safety a pain to move?

I seldom use the safety but yes it takes getting use to and I use my fingertip to move it forget using you thumb. The barreled action weighs about 7 lbs. the rifle as you see it weighs 15.4 lbs.

Your welcome I hope my experience with the chassis helped. You have to chose what works for you and what you're going to use it for. I like a heavy target gun and mostly shoot from bench and I take it in the field but shoot from a fixed position it's not a walk & hunt gun. I made a carrying case with wheels for traveling.

I've had one for a good minute now and still enjoy it. It has a light palma 22" on it and it strikes a good balance. I believe 15lb with scope and bipod. Their new ESS looks titties.
