Hunting & Fishing Texas or Oklahoma hog hunt

I travel to Tx and Ok often for work, I have heard of the huge numbers of feral hogs down there and have always wanted to help thin them out. I dont know anyone down there that has land access or even someone that hunts them. So I would like to know if anyone could put me in touch with somone who needs an extra gunman on his side.

Houston area, but I usually drive in through Dallas. and in Ok I'm usually around Ponca city

The best place to hunt hogs on public land in OK is Love Valley WMA. It's the north side of the Red River on the east side of I-35.

Yes, the rules are kind of goofy, but is open to rifle hunting year round except for archery season. Consult the OK hunting regs.

I will have to check it out, thanks. Texas has no public rifle hunting that I know of except draws.

not true. There are specific times and places that allow public land rifle hunts.


Texas is 97% privately owned. So you need some cash or know somebody who has some cash if you dont want to pay a guide or per day fee.

I've seen plenty of hunts for about 150 a day.


Speaking of....anybody know a good bait for piggies?

rrflyer, The bait that I have made up works good on pigs. I take a 5 gal bucket fill 2/3 of it with corn, add water enough to cover corn and cover it with a lid. Let it sit for 3 to 4 days or more in the sun to get good and stinky. I take that corn and pour it in a 3 by 4 foot plastic tub, on top of the corn I pour some powder grape drink, powdered milk works as well. I would add that the plastic tub is nailed to the ground, so the hogs will less likey move the tub around. This tub is set up under led lights to hunt at night.
