For those of you that have followed the story on 1911 forum. Here is my tale;
So most of you know Colt won the contract for the new Marine Corps MARSOC pistol to replace their MEUSOC 1911s. Somewhere around 4 to 5000 of these pistols were produced and shipped to the USMC.
Over time the Marine Corps became dissatisfied with the premature wear of the Ceracote finish and contacted Colt to get a better finish. Colt realized that the cost to refinish these pistols would be far above replacement with the new ion bond pistols. Colt also saw a huge marketing venture similar to McMillan's return stock deals. Colt marketed the pistols as decommissioned M45A1's with with the certificate and sold them to some company possibly GunBroker. gun broker then sold them on their gold member platform for starting at about $1600. These pistols were bought up rapidly and flipped on gun broker for now between $25-$3500.
Based on my time in the corps, and having affiliation with a force unit I was greatly interested in acquiring one of these to go along with my many return stocks. I was having great difficulty due to hack on my GunBroker account and I was unable to acquire one at any time.
At this time a wonderful gentleman by the name of Pmclaine took me under his wing and advertised on the Hide and to his associates of my desire for one of these find pistols. Pmclaine yesterday called my personal phone on his own work time to advise me more releases were coming out on the GunBroker site.
Because of this, the very next day today I was able to monitor the site and catch one of the new releases as it came up still with no gun broker account. I contacted Mike at CStactical and briefed him on my quandry. Mike's outstanding customer service included walking me through the pros and cons as well as the procedures that he needed to do to acquire a pistol off this roster.
Mike worked with me over some time and within a period of time called me back to advise me that he had placed the order and it was successful.
I thank the members of the Hide for the teamwork, cooperation and guidance that is provided on a regular basis between all members. I thank the brotherhood of the USMC (thank you Pmclaine) as well as Mike and his outstanding business CS Tactical and his customer service.
