I’ll go first. Hopefully I’ll be the only one but I doubt it.
Got the axe today at 5. After 2 years at this job no issues or complaints all I got was a “sorry man upper mgmt said cut the budget x amount” this is a fortune 100 company, project mgmt type job.
Anybody else?

I have seen some of it with my suppliers, but none at my company.

One of the distributors I buy from cut 96 people Friday, about 25% of their workforce.

Happened to my wife, work at her company for 5 years, had no complaints from anyone she worked with and always got her work done on time.
As soon as they started shutting stuff down here she got a letter saying you are being laid off and consider it permanent. Sucks but life goes on.
There was also a ship yard that laid off 300 employees permanently. Some guys had been there 25+ years. No warning, just terminated everyone.

Longshoremen union is a do nothing union with workers that aren't much better, too many do nothing fuckwads and getting way over paid only because they've been union for tons of time

Starting to wonder if it isn't time to open shit up and get on with life..... If u are old, STAY HOME..... If you are immuno deficient, STAY HOME...... Small business cannot take this much longer..... As the economy gets farther down the shitter death rates are gonna be worse than the actual disease..... Suicides are already way out of hand......

It's a tough time right now for sure. The virus is so contagious, you have to keep this quarantine in place, especially in large cities. At the end, We're going to make it all together. Everything will be back to normal hopefully.

My neighbor Scott works in construction. On the management side, although he's on the tools himself a couple of times a week.

A month ago the company had 402 staff. On Tuesday it was four after Scott laid the last 60 workers off. All construction sites have been shut down nationwide except for work on hospitals or other essential buildings.

But yet, NASCAR drivers are gonna get paid to drive simulators and act like they are racing. And there will be people that will watch it. As long as folks keep ordering stuff on the inter-web and having it shipped I got a job.
jk

construction is still chugging along at our facility. they are pouring concrete as we speak. we just put dirt in a bag. but are considered an essential business

I know of a few, rather large, construction projects going on in Minnesota right now. Mostly apartment buildings and housing.

Actually NO, a lot of workers are going to loose most everything they worked for and have start almost over.
Things are NOT going to be back to normal after forcing millions out of work for months by government decree.
Sure the millionaires you see on TV and the super rich politicians tell you it's all going to be fine... for them.
The "King's Men" get paid to inflict this on the population.

This will be as bad or worse for the average working class than 2008 was.

I bet by this time next year a lot of the broke poors will be wishing they had just rolled the dice on not getting a bad case of the virus as they look out over the bleak worldwide depression.

You are looking at probably upwards of 30 to 40 million people that want to work being out of work in this country alone by the time all is done, if you actually were able to count everyone that this drove out of work of some sort., not counting the rest of the world.
How are they supposed to pay the bills, pay the tax bills, keep a roof over their heads and food on the table when most can barely make it month to month....

Oh the "help".... so they let you slide on your mortgage for 2 or 3 months then take your house away when you can't catch up?

Miss out on 3 months of work,,, the government may loan you $1200 against your tax refund...

Lots of small business will collapse, lots of jobs will NOT be there when this is over.

Several members of my family are out of work and paying the bills is going to be hard soon for them.
Neighbor is out of work and has no clue if work will ever come back.

So, I live in MD where commercial construction is essential, but I work in PA, where it is not.
Company let us work from home from 3/23 till the end of the month, then we got furloughed indefinitely, at least they are covering health insurance for April,

Just an observation, but in my area it seems like the only people adhering to quarantine are professionals between 25 and 60 everyone else is business as usual. There is a low income senior apartment complex near my neighborhood and the people in jazzy scooters missing limbs from diabetes are all out in front smoking like normal. These are by far the most likely to die from the virus but they could care less. This virus is going to spread no matter how much we try. What’s the point of all this if the people most at risk don’t give a shit?

I'm working 21 twelve hour days a month, 8 of them for double time, the hours are long and its getting miserable. I'll have a fortune in the bank after two months of this crap and no where to spend it because the world would have collapsed.

The virus is doing the one thing Democrats hoped it would do..........................................destroy the Trump economy. They are hoping that combined with more Adam Shiff, Nancy Pelosi bullshit blaming Trump for a contrived crisis created by Democrats in league with Chinese communists. They can get some socialist fuck elected president.

I was let go from a cellphone store in the beginning. It's ok because help desk jobs are better paying as and on the rise.

But I feel for you guys and gals stuck in a bind. Good time to reassess income stuff and cut out buying coffee on the way or making it at home.

I work for a fortune 100 company... yesterday they indicated that they were cutting all sorts of benefits in order to preserve their employees.

Most of the people I work with are sitting at home. I’ve been lucky enough to be on a billable contract thats is absolutely essential.

Wife, not so much.

Daily I'm watching stupid people doing stupid stuff.. People still hugging and hi -fivin, sharing smokes, and drinks, coming out of the 7-11. Not sure how we will ever contain this with people not adhering to the rules.

Around here it’s been the excessive speeding and the almost daily serious accidents on the highways because they’re so empty.

At the last 20 working days there of been about 10 incidents of one of the highways in the area being shut down completely due to somebody doing something incredibly stupid.

I know some companies are streamlining but I think a lot of jobs are going to bounce back in 3 months.
