I imagine he's of the mind that federal laws can only apply to intrastate commerce and thus the "law" which was so vaguely mentioned it would make one question if it was a law or a figment of the old man's imagination... would make those weapons and attachments legal provided they are all manufactured in Alaska. If that is in-fact the case, it could also explain the lack of charges against the man. Maybe they don't want to risk a court case that could set legal precedent?

Or maybe they are just taking their sweet ass time like they seem to do with most things that don't involve gun fights and media.

The interstate commerce laws were designed to fight organized crime. It's just too bad the government didn't put a clause into interstate commerce insuring it would only be used against interstate organized crime.

The laws complicate business proceedings and add significant cost to products. They totally screw the consumer, and they hurt the business at the same time.
