You guys need to see the artistic talent of @HogsLife

Got this wallet for my son, but it needs to be in a glass case on the wall :)

    Man,, really nice!

    Holsters?

I haven’t gotten into holsters yet. I need to though. People keep asking me to but I haven’t invested in the “blue gun” molds yet. You use them to wet form the holsters to get the right fit without actually having the handgun on hand.

Mostly what I do is wallets, belts, gun belts, rifle slings, knife sheaths, portfolios, etc.

@HogsLife i have a damascus blade stag horn scale Skinner I have never really been impressed with the sheath.
If I send you some pics and dimensions would you be interested in working up a design for it ?
I understand you would of course need the knife in hand to do it properly.

Defiantly! Shoot me some pics and we can talk about it a bit.

Thank you man Lol there’s a “few” in that one and other than the time spent hand sewing, they’re all enjoyable hours. Lol
I understand what you have into that piece. Leather work is one of my only hobbies besides this silly, long-range try to hit small steel targets at distance and curse the wind gods hobby. Like you said, they are enjoyable hours and I find they are a good therapy for life stresses besides my gunpowder therapy. My skill set is no where near yours. Your swivel knife technique on the feathers is amazing and your backgrounding and relief are very clean and sharp. Again, Beautiful piece. I never understood why excellent leather work cost so damn much until I started doing it and realized that the amount of man hours it takes to make a beautiful piece. It should cost way, way more then it does and what I see some pieces sell for guys are doing it as a labor of love and barely breaking even on materials and just giving away the time for free.

If you still have room in your schedule for more work, I probably need to talk with you about a wallet.
Mine is about on it's last legs & I am having a hard time finding one I like that can hold enough stuff.

Can you put up photos of your other work?

Yeah man, no prob. Let me know if you don’t have IG and I can definitely you shoot you some pics to check out.

I still consider myself a hobbyist with and have full time job so haven’t had the time to set up a professional website or anything and I got out of Facebook a few years ago. All I have at this point is my IG account.

I also don’t have an “inventory” so to speak. All of my work is custom and made to order.

I do man. And would love to knock out a Wallet for you. I have a couple different designs if your interested shoot me a PM and we can talk about it.

Depending on what I have going on with with other projects, family, work etc, I typically give an 8-10 week lead time from date I receive the payment. Typically I come in ahead of schedule if life allows for it but 8-10 weeks is a safe bet.

Right on! Yeah, there’s a lot of hours into each project and a lot of that is spent on trying to create something unique. What people don’t see is the pieces that get tossed in the trash when they’re not up to your own personal standard. I actually tooled 2 pieces of this wallet that I wasn’t happy with prior to this one, and they got tossed in the scrap bin. One because I didn’t like the layout and the 2nd because I tried some painting (I’m not a painter lol) and didn’t like the way it turned out.
If im Not 100% happy with the piece I’ve done it doesn’t go out. If that means I lose money, so be it. That’s just a part of the deal. Custom leather is not cheap but as a hobbyist, virtually all the $$$ i make on projects gets spent buying more leather, dye etc. Very little profit for me at this point in time, but as you said, I started doing this a couple years ago as a way to “disconnect” from life’s BS. Between Shooting with my girls and Leatherwork, this is what I do.

Saddles is where it’s at though but it’s a skill not easily learned. If I could get my job to let me off for 10 weeks or so, I’d be using that Post 9-11 GI Bill to go to Pedrinis Saddle Making Academy in Oregon.

Always good to hear from other leather workers, and I appreciate your kind words sir.

Serious talent that is for sure! The scroll work and those belts with the scales are perfection.

Thank you! ??. It’s a learning process for sure and it’s a good outlet.

Western Floral is by far my favorite to do due to the fact the it is extremely challenging from the layout to the tooling. When it’s done right, it’s hard to beat.

I love doing that scale pattern on belts and sheaths. Really turns out slick.

As you can see this is NOT the street fair kind of leather work.. This is the kind of work & artistry that separates the $50 knife from the $1,ooo+ knife, or the sub 5.9LBS Superlite Tikka from the best climber Gunwerks can offer.. How do you put value on Artistry?

Anyway, I a super excited to see how he might transfer the same basic Indian Idea to another wallet design @HogsLife just shared. I am sure the smaller working area will present it's own challenges.. I just asked him to see what he can do and ordered another wallet!! Did I just toss down the gauntlet? LOL

Here is a square type bi-fold with the money slot on the out side and the CCs on the inside.. That makes a lot of sense to me.. I do not know the story about the Company name on the wallet. As a guess maybe it is a advertisement/logo for the owners company?

I'll share with you guys when I get the new wallet with the Indian tolled into the design...

Oh, boy already thinking about a fixed blade horizontal carry knife sheath to carry while pig hunting...

    Help me encourage him-- :)

@HogsLife hope to soon shoot with you like I have a lot of the Hide guys; 99.9% of you guys on the Hide a assume!

Thank you for the support and the kind words Jim ??. Yeah super stoked to see what I can do for you on this bifold.

And yes, the logo on the outside is a stamp I had made for my in laws company. This wallet is a gift for my father in law. Looking forward to making a trip up north so me and my daughter can shoot with you. As soon as she fills her elk tag in a couple weeks, we’ll be heading up your way!

    Thank you again man ??
