Well, how did it work out?

Re: "The Houston Warehouse"

If I remember correctly, it was published in the First Edition of Precision Shooting magazine. Probly the most famous single shooting article ever published.

Re: "The Houston Warehouse"

Paul - you're welcome. I attempted to search for it here before I posted it, but maybe my "search fu" is no good here?

Outlaw - Do you know specifically what the "lie" was? Was the article too sensational...maybe a lot less going on there than originally stated? Group sizes a bit too small?

It sounded like a cool place to hang out, anyway...a kind of "doghouse" for benchrest shooters...

I don't know if there are lies in the article or not. I've read it several times and found it interesting and educational.

If one was to read Dr. Franklin Manns (inventer of the Mann Accuracy device) book "The Bullet's Flight from Powder to Target" it supports the info presented in "The Secrets of The Huston Warehouse.

The Mann Accuracy Device is still used today by the Army to test their ammo. Reading some of these test also agrees with the info in this article.

But I wasn't there, at Huston, that is, so I can't say for sure, but I kind of agree that there is a lot of fact to the Huston Report.

was that just by coincidence or had you read the article before? After reading the article, I went home and fired up the hacksaw and now all of my rifles are 21.75"

This guy needs all the help he can get!

Re: "The Houston Warehouse"

I have a 308 at 21.75" and it shoots great but I can’t say it would out shoot another custom that’s shorter or longer...

I don’t shoot benchrest and am happy when groups just have all holes touching.

One thing that nag's me about that article is if this is a magic length due to harmonics wouldn't that magic length change from one caliber to the next as well as contour to contour and bullet weight to bullet weight???

Re: "The Houston Warehouse"

As for as the length, wasn't that for a 6ppc and not the full assortment of cartridges? Kinda like supposedly 27 1/4" is optimum for a 6BR shooting the heavies. But we all know that each rifle is different to a degree.
