  • MARCH 15 is almost here. Love em' or hate em' we all got our personal opinions, but this is the place to venerate and appreciate one of the most recognized and long-standing rifles in history, and remains today as THE symbol of a free citizen who is resolved to protect and defend what is his.

Vintage advertisements, oddities and curios, concept sketches and prototypes that were never released or released in limited quantities, rejected early designs, historical photographs ALL GO HERE.

....And God said, "Let there be AFFORDABLE justice and equality for all!". Then the various parts, all precision built with the most care and attention, melded together flawlessly and the first basic, mil-spec combat ready rifle rolled off the assembly line...

    AR TRIVIA:
An erroneous and inaccurate statement has often floated around the firearms world, propagated by the rapid spread of information in the Internet age, regarding to how the extremely popular California-based toy company Mattel had been one of the contractors employed by the US government to produce the M-16 rifle issued to troops in Vietnam. In reality, Mattel has NOT been a contractor, or produced any AR-15's / M-16's, or any parts for the weapon. The rumor was attributed to the fact that since most of the rifle consisted of lightweight plastics and aluminum, truly cutting edge for it's time, both soldiers and civilian shooters, still used to traditional wood and steel guns, would joke about how "You can tell it's a Mattel", referring to the toy company famous for it's sci-fi inspired ray guns that the new Armalite rifle resembled. However, Mattel was neither a government contractor or civilian arms manufacturer in any time period.

Second model prototype built for first commercial sales and military testing. Note the relocation of the charging handle from the top of the receiver to the rear.

How about $8k for a wood stock AR? Holy shit! And a thumb hole at that. I think I'd rather have a 6.5CM KAC rifle and oh, I don't know, maybe another SR15 to top it off?
