The "Official Shortage Thread"......

Didn't Trump do that at the beginning of his term?
No, he wanted to fill the Strategic Oil Storage:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - President Donald Trump’s plan to fill the U.S. emergency crude oil stockpile has become the centerpiece of his administration’s strategy to shield drillers from a meltdown in energy demand - but company officials and industry groups say the program has been too slow and won’t be enough to save them.

Gettin' better by the day:

WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden named former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu to oversee implementation of the $1 trillion infrastructure plan, the White House said on Sunday.

Small town where I fuel up has run out of gas often this last Summer, typically Regular grade, so you're forced to buy the Premium at a Premium Price.

Last week, one station was closed for two days because they couldn't get resupplied.

Hey, let's put another grifter in charge of $1 Trillion of tax payer money. Him and Hunter will get along well.

Yes, we've got enough, but I'm thinking it's probably time to reevaluate the situation and add another rack to the supply room.

Canning has taken a back seat this year, but we are going to get our butts in gear and start canning this weekend. BTW, canned Chili is delicious.

The airport serving Nevada’s second largest metro area faces a shortage of jet fuel that could force the cancellation of cargo and passenger fights, potentially restricting the flow of tourists and essential goods into the northern part of the state.

Nevada’s political leaders issued a statement late Saturday pledging to minimize disruption at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and ensure the aerial fight against Western wildfires isn’t hampered. Besides serving Reno, a popular gambling destination, the airport is the nearest passenger terminal to Lake Tahoe.

This airport is also the gateway to most of northeastern CA, from Bishop to Alturas, and southern Oregon east of I-5. East of Reno the nearest major airport is SLC UT. Although all this part of the country is sparsely settled (a good thing in my book) shortages in Reno will affect an extremely large area.

I don't understand how this shit isn't affecting the stock market. The only possible answer would be the Democrats printing trillions of dollars of helicopter money to their friends, cronies and the poors propping up the cash flow.

Several factors:
Foreign money coming in... They think America is "Too Big to Fail"...
Inflation.... Seems the phrase "million's of dollars" has been replaced by "trillions of dollars"....
The companies that make up the Dow, S&P 500, etc are different companies than several years ago. They drop out the losers and replace them with the high fliers to boost up the indexes...
Too many factors for the guy trying to make a living to keep up with. Just think "smoke and mirrors".
Just my opinions. Now we will hear from the guys making a killing in the market.

I spoke with someone from one of the companies that produce MREs, and they said there are many factors that impact the lifespan of MREs. For example, storage in high heat can reduce it's lifespan.

They said they have product that has been in storage for 40+ years and still good.

Was told to watch for signs of package swelling, and if there's a foul odor when opening the package, then don't eat it.

Options.

Also, it’s one of the few places to get yield.

Try before you buy too much. We personally use ours as a pantry. Pull something off the shelf and it's added to the shopping list.

Now when things get tight, we will stop using our stockpile until it's needed. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to buy some MRE product in the event that things go south and stay that way for more than 6 months.

Home renovations = new home construction. Both will be impacted.

The big money players have taken their money off the table... Propaganda spinners are blaming it on the Omicron variant...... Going into 2022 the biggest fear is the "unknown".

CEOs and corporate insiders have sold a record $69 billion in stock in 2021, as looming tax hikes and lofty share prices encourage many to take profits.
From Satya Nadella at Microsoft to Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, CEOs, founders and insiders have been cashing in their stock at the highest pace on record. As of Monday, sales by insiders are up 30% from 2020 to $69 billion, and up 79% versus a 10-year average, according to InsiderScore/Verity, which excludes sales by large institutional holders.

But, will massive inflation prop up prices?

I called cheesecake factory to order dinner and they said they hadn't gotten any gluten free pasta for awhile and don't know when they'll be able to offer it again.
The poor wheat harvest started getting attention a few months ago. This is a world wide shortage. Many news articles about this situation.

Working at US Embassy Liberia in 1990 I found a case of C Rats dated 1952.

Bored one night working mids I opened one up to check it out.

Cans all looked good, used the included P-38, opened up the crackers, heard the vacuum break, ended up eating some beef stew or something on crackers.

Few nights later I went back to the well. This time spaghetti and meat sauce.

Buried the point of the P-38.

Instead of air in it was an eruption of high pressure meat sauce out. It was foul smelling and I abandoned post one in response.

It ejected meat sauce for about 5-10 seconds all the way to the ceiling tile overhead.

Fucking gross and took a good part of my remaining shift to clean up.

Don't eat shit from 1952.

The store shelves are full here of everything but huntung ammo. I pay a dollar more for premium gas than I did last year and that's annoying. Found a good sized turkey for thanksgiving with no problem. My freezer is full of venison. Continue to run around in circles trying to put your hair out, it's amusing.
Someone agrees with you:

So, because you don't see any shortages in your tiny, little world bubble that means everybody else posting their actual shortages and unavailability are actually on acid trips and delusional?

-Computer chips
-Cars
-Gas
-Plastic
-Palm Oil
-Truckers
-Homes
-Lumber
-Tampons, Toilet Paper
-Furniture
-Chlorine
-Chicken
-Bacon/Hotdogs
-Cheese/Coffee/Olive Oil
-Corn
-Oxygen
-Labor

he's acting out his role as 'federal agent guy' well. With big, evil socialist government the nomenklatura never has shortages. the parasitical leeches who sit in the offices of invented, useless jobs with their extravagant salaries paid for with taxpayer money always have the guarantee that everything they need will be provided because they are part of the ruling class.

Back in 1775, we didn't have the term 'socialism', but they had the same kind of elitist bureaucrats. Our founding fathers tarred and feathered them, and ultimately made them Canadian citizens. Since then, everyone seems to have forgotten the fact that government is our servant and not our master.

When the ammo shortage became evident... It was suggested that the Federal Government was buying up all of the popular sizes of ammo. Thus creating an artificial shortage. No, I did not Fact Check.

Today Governor Ron DeSantis it reporting that the same thing is happening with Regeneron and Eli Lily monoclonal antibody treatments.
Florida surgeon general, Dr. Joseph Ladapo wrote the message below.

"The federal government is actively preventing the effective distribution of monoclonal antibody treatments in the U.S.," Ladapo wrote. "The sudden suspension of multiple monoclonal antibody therapy treatments from distribution to Florida removes a health care provider's ability to decide the best treatment options for their patients in this state."..

The same thing will happen to the food supply. A move to control.

Jerome Powell recently said inflation would ease when the supply chain was back to functioning at pre-pandemic levels.

I did not see this one coming. Guess I best buy a few vintage milk cans.
There's milk available (i.e. horizon , fair life just came out with their version) in pint cartons that is non-refrigerated and keeps up to six months.
Worth to keep in a pinch esp. for smaller needs.

Seen numerous articles about empty shelves.

Local publix poultry section was mighty bare!
There will always be some grocery stores with full shelves, low prices and happy shoppers..... And a news crew taking video and interviewing the customers. Damage control and propaganda go hand in hand.

the port backup has been going on since covid surfaced. it’s nothing new, they drag that out everytime they need an excuse for something and act like it is a new development.

spent time in california, no shortages where i was at. NONE. although they did charge me 4 bucks for two fucking tomatoes; and i am still kinda butt hurt about that. didnt see any shortages in lake havasu, arizona, either. especially the titties….LOTS of titties.

The Fairlife stuff is also pretty dang healthy (more so than Horizon, the last time I compared labels).

Ordered two front tires for a pickup was told 10-12 weeks.
I buy mine on eBay and mount them myself, I'm pretty good with my bubble balancer too, daily drivers I'll take them to be spin ballanced. Even though not needed yet, I've been buying up spare sets of tires for my vehicles. Which may prove futile if no gas. I'd be the Jackass driving around in my Frontier with a bed full of homemade gasifier, and new tires! (I have a few large ring binders of info/plans I've printed out for *just in case*) I really need to buy a surpluses 10 KV diesel generator (that runs off a gasifier, of course!) Oh! I just finished paying for half a 1600# steer, should be going to the butcher in the next week or so!

The 'Ripple Effect"....

New York (CNN Business)General Motors will shut production at most of its North American plants for a week or two starting next week as the worsening chip shortage takes another bite out of its plans.
GM and other automakers had hoped the chip shortage would be mostly behind them by now. But the surge in Covid cases, especially in Southeast Asia where many of the chip manufacturers are based, has actually created a worsening problem for automakers.

We make weather strip for several manufacturers, have not had an order from GM for almost all of 2021, just started to run some in Nov. Chrysler never slowed down. We don't have a Ford contract, but rumours are, maybe getting the F150

Distilled water in my area is in very short supply. Glad I've got a few extras. Use it for my cpap and less commonly for a humidifier. Between Smiths, Bowmans, Walgreens, WinCo, and another Smiths, yesterday I only found 1 gallon half hidden in WinCo. They've been getting it in and selling out like crazy.

That’s an odd one.

There's no shortage of anything, you just have to know how to source the goods.

I somewhat agree with your statement............ Historically there have always been "Black Markets"... Even when America was in it's hay day, there were Black Markets.... Drugs, alcohol, etc........... What strikes fear in most Americans is having to barter.... I call it the lost art in America. What happened to standing eye to eye with someone who needs what you have while you need what they have ? Better known as "Horse Trading".
