The Plan for Pacquiao in MMA.

Re: The Plan for Pacquiao in MMA.

He would get his ass kicked just like james phoney did. You think he can pick up the grapling and jits that he would need to know in less than a few years. Not happening

Well... Cro Cop took Werdum out of Spain to Croacia and ended up with a decent ground game and an excellent take down defense after a while. May be not the best, but good enough to survive Fujita, Herring, Coleman, Randleman(the 2nd time) and Barnett takedowns. Plus and excellent fight against Minotauro and what ended in a stand up fight against Fedor.
Plus I read somewhere that Pacquiao has some sort of "kickboxing/Muaythai" background and if Vitali Klitschko made it from full contact to boxing may be the Pacman has a chance in MMA.
I think if he trains hard with a good ground coach & partners he can learn something.

Re: The Plan for Pacquiao in MMA.

It would be stupid for him to do that. He is a boxer. And he is one of the greatest. However either he or MayWeather is scared. I do not know which one it is. But one of them is scared. Why would he fight MMA for peanuts when he could pick up 10 to 20 million plus to fight MayWeather?? Why take a chance getting your butt kicked in MMA?? Tom.

Re: The Plan for Pacquiao in MMA.

Yeah, Pacquiao has no reason to do MMA. Too big of a risk. He's a phenomenal boxer anyway, so I don't see how he needs to do this. If Pacquiao could ever get that coward Mayweather to hop into the ring with him, Pacman would be the greatest boxer of the modern era. I don't know if that will happen. If I were him, I wouldn't care. Pacman is a hero in the Philippines and has enough money to buy his own island and 100 LBFMs to populate it. What more does he need?

Well... Let's hope he fight Mayweather so he can earn enought money to whatever he likes.

I don't know... Warrior spirit? or may be he thinks he has reach everything he wanted in boxing and want to try new things.
Anyway... I would love to see him against Maywheater and move to MMA in his peak.

Re: The Plan for Pacquiao in MMA.

He wont be going to the UFC thats for sure. Dana White said under no circumstances would he let a boxer come into MMA and get seriously hurt because he did not know what he was doing in the ring. It was take him years to be able to stop and/or defend against a takedown from some of the top guys.

If Mr. White is such a nice guy he should stop paying garbage to the fighters on the undercard bouts... or split with them the half million he gave to the experienced and well rounded Toney who clearly knew what he ws doing.
Pacquiao is an elite athlete and he can learn. He will never be a submission wizard like Minotauro but it is posible to have a decent ground & take down defense as many other strikers on MMA.

Read it. I said Dana wouldn't let another boxer in the ring that didnt know what he was doing. It was unsafe. Tony could have been mauled by Randy, but Randy being a real sportsman he let him out easy. It was apparent that Tony didnt know what he was doing, He tried to stand with Randy and obviously did NOT work on ground protection, 9 months training and still 25+ pounds overweight? He took nothing serious and got his ass handed to him.

Dana White cares about the fighters that rake in the money for him. He doesnt give two squirts of duck shit about some undercard fighter that isnt even on the PPV portion, they are there for entertainment BEFORE they go live or to fill in spots if a main card goes short. If you think White really sits down at night and considers their feelings you are crazy.

I doubt that. Pacquiao would get destroyed if a submission or true wrestler got in the ring with him. A "decent ground game" will get your face broken or your arms broken. That is foolish.

Re: The Plan for Pacquiao in MMA.

What does pacquiao even fight at looks a little light for 155. And some one saying some thing about gsp who walks around at 180 plus would make this guy look like a fucking clown. Pacquiao will never have a ground game to compete look at how long the guys that have good take down defence work on their ground game. And please dont say crocop has good ground defense. He has done what in the octagon? Dana made his point and boxers can not just jump in and compete takes a whole differnt skill set and they dont have it.

May be I didn't explain myself correctly.
We agree D. White doesn't care a lot for the undercard fighters; and about letting another boxer in the ring I tryed to said that if the sees another opotunity for a big PPV sale he will do it again without any remorse (specially with someone like Pacquiao).

1-I said "someone like" GSP on a different thread, on a different context talking about Mayweather and how would I like to see him destroyed and showing MMA fighters the respect they deserve. PLus...With someone "like" GSP I meant a well rounded and very well fit fighter wich was primarily a BJJ/wrestler. So please read the posts again. Everyone is aware of the weight difference.
2-I have been trainning MMA for almost 11 years now and have some amateur fights. So I will say again that Filipovic has an EXCELLENT takedown defense (that's why Fedor couldn't put him on the ground)and a decent ground game. Look at his record only 2 submission losses (1 real with Minotauro and the other by punches).
Look outside the octagon.

That was not my response to you. I quoted the guy that I was responding to..... I still don't think White will put himself or his cash crop at risk over a boxer getting mauled again. Lawsuits would make for an expensive deal for him. Its just not even entertaining. The only entertainment I got out of the Tony vx. Couture fight was the fact that he choked him out and Tony wasn't even sure how to tap out.
