The Rifle my dad never shot

Re: The Rifle my dad never shot

Thanks for sharing. My dad and I shoot together all the time and it is really a great family sport. I completely understand the sentimental connection you can have to a gun.

Re: The Rifle my dad never shot

Great story and thanks for sharing. Unfortunately I lost my dad this past Thanksgiving. While dad didn't do a lot of rifle shooting, we did bird hunt together a good bit and I cherish the memories of days in the field with him. I hunt and shoot with my son as much as is humanly possible and I hope that our time together means as much to him as the time with our fathers means to us. The last day that we spent at home with my dad, my son and I both got a deer and we had a great time sharing the hunt with dad. Although he was very sick you could still see the spark in his eyes and the excitement as we relived the hunt with him. I miss him everyday and I can only hope that my son will be as proud of me as I am of him.

No shit, the times bird hunting with my Dad will be cherished 4ever. He is not gone, but every time I see him I never forget to tell him how much he and Mom have influenced my life. 55 years of marriage I hope they are as proud of me as I am of them.

Thanks for sharing.
I understand my dad would talk a long time about buying a new gun. We knew he would come home one day with we just never new when. Most of the time it was after we forgot about it so we ended up sharing in the surprise.
Mine passed it 2007.
Your story open a forgotten memory thank you.

I think I will do my best to keep my son guessing about when I am going to buy a rifle, just to keep it interesting. I think it is a dads job to surprise the kids with awesome toys, even if they are his.
