In the very likely event Trump wins re-election, expect the left wing / communists / democrats to go balls to the walls with trying to cause chaos, civil unrest and widespread violence.

I would hope that those in LE have been giving some thought to who their friends are and who would be willing to have their backs and who they could trust to help keep their families safe, perhaps even maybe watching how current events are unfolding and making plans for both the violence and the demonization by the democrat leadership / local leadership to be way worse than it is now.
"Just following orders" may be a bit interesting when the politicians giving the orders to LE are also the ones calling for the mob to go attack LE...

Those are the same politicians and like-minded command staff that gave the orders to abandon police precincts in Minneapolis and Seattle and have ordered front line cops to back off and let the protestors riot / loot. Look for a mass exodus from urban police departments, early retirements, laterals to other agencies or outright change of career. Not just speculation on my part, first and second hand info from those still in the business.

ou have a number of friends who shoot and think like you in your AO! Form a group and train in case shtf! They will all need to have comms and group quickly when needed!
