Sidearms & Scatterguns Thinking about picking up Buckmark pistol...?

I don't have a .22 pistol, except for the AMT .22 mag I've had for years. I'm thinking the plain Jane camper model would be best for me, since I'll want to replace the barrel with a threaded aftermarket one for suppressed use. I'm left handed, but I'll probably replace the factory grips at some point. It appears the camper model will allow me to customize it to my liking. Am I correct in my assumptions or is their a better model in the Buckmark lineup. Intended use:

- Suppressed fire
- Target shooting (not competition)
- prismatic sight capable (down the road)
- pest control (me lives in the country)

I have a Buckmark Camper Whisper with the factory threaded barrel. It has proven to be reliable and accurate with a number of different loads. My Buckmark and SWR Spectre combo actually cycles better with sub-sonic ammo than my SRT Ruger Mk3 integral does. I'm not sure sure how easy it would be to add a reflex sight as I've never looked into it. Overall, I think the Buckmark is a fine 22LR pistol and a solid alternative to the Ruger.

Buckmark with the factory URX grip beats my 20 year old Ruger MKII bull barrel hands down.

Ive had a buckmark for years and run a awc can and the aquila sss, perfect raccoon meds. No feeding issues with this speciality ammo.

I have a buckmark plus with the rosewood grips, got it new in 1990. Best semi auto of any caliber I've owned.

I've had a Buckmark 5.5 Target for over 20 yrs and just picked up Bullseye 7". They have adjustable triggers, i dont think the Campers do. Might be worth looking into.

My dad gave me a buckmark many years ago. I have shot TONS with all kind of ammo and it's still one of my favorite guns to shoot. Get one....or two!

Either a BuckMark or Ruger.
Both can threaded from factory.

Have a Buckmark and it's a great pistol. Have two kids who are shooting 22's right now, so I'm going to add a Ruger 22/45 to the mix as well. Can't go wrong with either I don't think.

Love my Buckmark. Really accurate and totally reliable so far(~1000 rounds).

If you do decide to go with the buckmark don't forget to do the trigger mod, makes for a really cheap ($0.00) and really nice trigger.

I've owned two Buckmarks through the years and found both to be accurate and reliable.

Just like everyone else - I think you'll be very happy with a Buckmark. You are correct in your assumption: the Camper model can be fully upgraded to do everything you're looking for. It's a very reliable and robust system that I think you'll find highly accurate and a ton of fun to shoot. It's also a lot easier to clean than a Ruger.

For the reflex sight you can run an allchin mount "it might be one L I don't remember and a c-more. Super low profile and you can get the plastic sight to save even more weight. I have a camper right now that I am setting up with the same setup plus the threaded tac-sol barrel.

The Brownings are great pistols and much easier to get threaded as the barrel can be separated from the serialized part of the gun. That cannot be done on the Ruger. I have done the trigger mod on mine and it makes for a nice trigger for minimal work.

I have a Buckmark that I use as a bullseye back up. I also use it for giving lessons. I prefer the one with the iron sights built into a picatinny rail.

Mine shoots great at 50 yards and probably farther with standard CCI-SV.
