I have zero experience with static line jumps but it appears from the previous jumper that they are following a procedure with their arms out.
Anybody got an explanation??? just curious.

I have seen a few isues with static lines
seen one guy some how get line tangeld around neck and dangle around for a wile
see a few other funny things meatbombing as well

Shit, we all heard the stories from the jumpmasters about if you look concious, then you would be cut loose and free to use your reserve.
That guy didn't too look with it.
Things must be different in GB or wherever that was.

I don't understand why they are jumping with their arms stuck out like that. I would think they would have enough hung up troops, that they would change that crap like right now.

I guess I could see doing it that way off a ramp (still stupid) but NO WAY you could get away with that out the side.
My worst fear was having to actually use my reserve. The idea of scooping and throwing it at less than 1200' just seemed CRAZY to me.
The other thing that scared me to death was the fact that ALL of the vehicles were dropped on the DZ for us to land on. Try doing a proper PLF off the hood of hummer. Good thing we rarely actully landed on the DZ. LOL

Flying out that way is more stable, but that's the consequence of hooking up backwards like he did (Note static line was still attached).
But he did have his arm OVER the static line, thinking that had a lot to do with it.
That hadda hurt...
He did good in the recovery though, pretty lucky SOB

Standard British C130 tailgate exit.
Things go bad when his lines wrap around his arm and ruck. Very dangerous since he's jumping a square-on-square (HAHO) static-line system -- it would have been a very bad day firing off a reserve into all that garbage.

Looked like a Casa or Shorts Skyvan tailgate, too small for a C130.
Definately a mis-routed static line, JMPI should have caught that if military.
And what did they do? Attach a reserve parachute in the plane? Looks like they cut him away and the reserve deployed from the plane, not from the jumper.

If I am not mistaken, I believe he was bleeding on his left side about 1' below his arm pit. All the film does not show this but it looked very red in color at a later part of the filming. Anyone else see that?
I would guess that he was crapping pink twinkies.
