those using Golden Rod dehumidifiers... question

so it doesn't raise the temperature to a high enough level to be a problem for the shelves, I am assuming based on the years of use.. thank you, appreciate taking the time to respond... much appreciated
The only issue is heat rises. Ideally they’re at the bottom of the door for maximum convection through the safe.

I’ll add my safe is in a non-climate controlled area and the safe stays bone dry with a single Golden Rod and reusable desiccant.
one word of caution....my shotgun recoil pad at some point (unbeknownst to me) abutted the rod .....over time this resulted in a compacted/contracted section of recoil pad.....it was disheartening and disfiguring particularly as it was custom formed to the shotgun stock
This. Best placement is horizontally at the bottom of the safe.
I've used two over the last 10 years plugged in 24/7. They work great, no rust on anything. Remember that they get about as hot as a 100W bulb (remember those). Keep them a couple of inches away from your stuff.
yeap, figured that would happen with exposure... I have it mounted now vertically and about 2 inches in front of any stock and about 3 inches above any butt area... good input and thanks for the heads up..
I have one of these in each of my safes for 5-6 years now. I like that it is barely warm to the touch but have served their purpose well. I also like that they take up very little room.

I have one vertically in my safe for about two years running now and it seems to be working great.
Bit of a bump but you can also use a reptile heater in use the rubber cord type. It's available in 220v for aussies. Plus meantbinonmybhad to drill a 1/4 hole in my safe for it.
Repltile heaters are safe to touch designed with low failure rate.
As my safe is uninsulated so I put in a 25w one. Admittly quite long but just looped it arround bottom corners of my safe.
Power usage is
25wx24hrs=600w
=.6kw/h per day
My power rate is $.30kw/h
.6x90(90 day bill cycle) = 54kw/h
54x.3 = $16.2 per 3 months.
Please also note putting a 25w light bulb is not the same as some of the electricity gets used in light output. Plus will be hot to touch.
Also wired up 12v lights with a powerpack adaptor and a magnetic Reed switch.

I have been using them with great results for more than a decade. I have a Liberty safe, which uses cloth covered wooden shelves, with no problems. As others have said, mount at the bottom of the safe. They do get very warm for long term contact, so keep common sense distance away from your equipment. If you are in a high humidity area, it would also be wise to use a rechargeable Eva Dry or similar unit for extra help. Hope this helps...Stay Safe!
