hiya everyone - new to the board and I'm trying to pick an optic for my .308 maten. I've been leaning toward the new IOR 2.5-10x42 FFP. Thoughts? For those that have one: how does the reticle fair when zoomed all the way out shooting at a moving target at <100yd? Also, is the illuminated center dot daylight visible? Thanks for any information.

I have on on my Noveske SPR and it works great, The new MP8 reticle is much better than the last generation style. You can't really see the red dot in bright day light or I havent played with it that muct with the sun up but it does make a difference in dimmer light conditions. I had the last gen MP8 and when illuminated full power durring the day it's almost like a red dot and you can pick up the crosshairs under the bright sun. I like it alot. I wish they made it 2.5-15 and not just 10.

EDIT BTW the glass is SUPER clear.

Yeah got mines from Scott at liberty, $1100 some bucks free shipping. Wow that one in the Valdada site is a steal. and it is the newer Gen / exposed knobs. GL

I have one on my precision AR-15 and think it's a fine scope for the money. I've shot out to 600 yards with it. The glass is clear and the tracking crisp and repeatable. The coatings do have a warm color cast, and there's considerable tunneling in the 2.5–4 power range. The elevation knob is 5 mils/turn, so keep an eye on the stadia lines!

I have one on my Grendel. Very nice scope for the $ with excellent glass. Tunneling between 2.5 and 3.5 or so, fwiw. I like it and it will prob stay for the time being. I'm considering trying the 4-14 and moving the 2.5-10 to a trainer, but that is down the road. I believe they are in the same $ ballpark.

awesome tip on that deal gunjunkie - I snatched it up

so how do you guys like using the thing at low power (other than the tunneling effect)? I'm assuming it looks pretty much like a duplex reticle at 2.5, how's it do on movers?

You're welcome man. I would have snatched it up myself but I ordered a 3.5-18 from Liberty the same day I saw it. I couldn't buy both. Good to see that another member got it anyway.
