"We" (society at large, not the gun community) created the militarized warrior cop, and taught him to use profiling to literally PREVENT crime (vs. apprehending suspected criminals.) . We give them machine guns (while simultaneously disarming citizens from self defense) and up- armorered vehicles and other accoutrements of war and trained them in combat tactics.

We expect cops to risk their lives defending our lives.

Then we demonize that cop and call him a racist murderer when his combat tactics (that "we" taught him and required he use) in the "war on crime" end up with combat results.

Meawhile we tolerate failing schools in black neighborhoods, yawn at the destruction of the black family, and act all shocked young black men are raised up not by fathers but by gang members, and cannot compete for jobs when gov't schools failed to teach them how to read.

And we ignore the DOJ / FBI stats that show a segment of 6 - 8% of the gen pop is committing 35+ % of gun crimes....all cuz its politically incorrect to say that demographic is "young black males"

Instead, we demonize cops who go off the rails in dealing with some of the most disgusting violent acts and aspects of our society.... as if average men are somehow magically not spozed to become violent against violence.

Our culture "virtue signals" condemning these rogue police, when "we" created them.

There's far more to be said, but those are some things I see NOT being said that should be said.

I know its just TV, but..... watcha season or 2 of CHicago P.D. It really opened my eyes to the conflicting challenges of modern day policing.

"Our culture "virtue signals" condemning these rogue police, when "we" created them. " , said Getreal. I couldn't agree more. This is not a 'New' thing. The more we allow miss-behavior the harder the "children"/people push to see if we will react. Keepers of the Gate shouldn't be surprised when they the 'parents' haven't trained the children in civilization/U.S.constitution.

I have no idea if he is a racist, but I saw the murder, and he needs to go down for it. In my mind I believe that those who protected him during previous misdeeds should go down with him.

We didn't, they did.
They being the judges and the system that had a revolving door for violent
ciminals.
As more saw that there was a decreasing price to pay for this they multiplied.
Law enforcement comes to public officials and says were need more firepower
to deal with/be at parity with the criminals.
Import very violent gangs as well.
Elected "officials" up arm police and sell it as "look at us increasing public safety".
Add in a bank robbery where the perps wore armor and blow it up in the media
to sell M4s and APCs for the police.
The felons lost fear of punishment/the law a while back.
Bleeding hearts killed the death penalty as well.

Militia snipers would stop this BS in short order.

Social distancing regulations obviously don't work.

We expect Cops to keep ups safe not kill unarmed people, They took the Job and they got trained and there a basic expectations. Everyone out of line has to answer to the law and this is just a typical example. Cops should prioritize on taking the perp alive.

Very true.

The current police officer in The us is nothing more than a revenue collector. The strong right hand of an increasingly tyrannical government, with no regard for the citizen which they believe to be beneath them. The idea that they made themselves hero’s without doing heroic acts is how this got started, (By police department/unions, probably for financial or psychological reasons) it gave them an ego that matches their “above the law” status. That’s why the vast majority of them act like cocksuckers when they interact with people.

You are talking about cops, which is a correct assessment. However this country has many, many LEO's that do not fit that statement. If any of the LEO's I know had been at the murder scene, it would have not happened I assure you. Now the cops I know,... they would have been asking for more C&D (Coffee & Donuts) while spectating. Once you look at the How's & Why's of the 1033 program (not the sanitized version) it's a clue of how & why some people that should have never been allowed to be in LE, are drawn to it. Quality is never cheap, however warm bodys are, an the cheaper the revenuer/enforcement agent, the faster & cheaper the end goal. If the system keeps it up, it will get a cleansing, but that will not happen from the outside. The voter's get the "Law" they allow, or are willing to put up with. Remember Mayors appoint Police chiefs, an Sheriffs are elected. Don't partake of the system, you have no right to bitch. Starting shit to happen, from the top down is easy,... changing what was started at the top, from the bottom is never easy,...

@GetReal , I get the sentiment and share some of the outrage. However, my view is not exactly the same.

Profiling as a law enforcement tool is the study of characteristics with the express purpose of solving crime by identifying who (the unknown subject) was most likely to have committed the act. Google VICAP for its history and what it is really about. Profiling is a powerful tool. Use of the word in pop culture discourse has been twisted by the media for the very reason you mention in your 5th point: "...cuz its politically incorrect to say that demographic is...". If anything about profiling is tolerated it is allowing the MMM to contort it for political purposes.

The cop business is a dangerous one and no one calls the cops because their day is going along just wonderfully. When shit happens I expect them to handle it. My general expectation of cops is to solve crime. Do I expect cops to be the only bulwark between me and a violent death? Fuck no. If a situation is actually life threatening I (and I think pretty much anyone on here) fully expect myself to not hide behind a cop but to rise to the occasion. Of course we have droves of cowering sheep. I cannot speak for other demographics, but we (and they, and them, and all the other theys) are philosophically disparate enough that the term "we" may not be used.

That cop is a murderer. I have zero idea if he is a racist or not. I am pretty sure he is a piece of shit. Combat tactics??? Get real. Seriously, we were choking each other out far more effectively by junior high. All this talk of combat and militarization... while it is certainly true that for some militaries the state of being is a fashion show, I refuse to call someone militarized just because they have some kit draped about themselves. In large part that is what we are really talking about. I would probably be willing to accept the term paramilitary.

Billions of dollars have been spent on causing the failure of all sorts of neighborhoods. Lawyers have raked in vast amounts of lucre in suing anyone and everyone who might have the audacity to maintain any kind of academic or behavioral standard. The left quite literally celebrates the transformation of entire cities into illiterate, impoverished, and addicted shitholes. Of all of the things I can point to as a root cause I single out the judiciary as the greatest enabling factor in this. Not Lyndon Johnson, not any other racist piece of shit. It is the judiciary that the left (very smartly) decided to use as the place to legislate and social engineer.

I do not think crime stats are so widely ignored. I think Don Lemon is effective at shaming public discourse about them. Some on here are responsible for assembling those numbers and others of us study those numbers. To be fair here, what many of us in fact do is avoid discussion of the topic, at least in an open way, because the odds of being assailed as a racist/bigot/whatever is very high. But ignore them, definitely not.

CNN demonizes cops. I mean this in the way the MMM addresses people in massive blocks as if a few characteristics rigidly define the entire world. Of course MSNBC would reject being coupled with Fox News. If you read the these threads enough you will see zero consensus on police behavior because there is no single minded "we" to be had. Because of this threads on this topic turn into shit storm after shit storm. I enjoy these same shit storms at all manner of social gatherings. That is America. And I like it. It's just not represented on CNN.

There has been plenty of virtue signalling by certain prominent cops calling out the Milwaukee murderer as a murderer. This is not a heroic act. But that is not all of them. IMHO, far from it. Plenty of good cops want to vomit at all of this. There are many many virtuous cops who don't sprint for a megaphone when it suits them. They just do their job. I really don't know why many of them stand for all the shit they have to put up with. These men and women have always been there and I hope always will be.

Your “LEO” friends are absolutely no different, EVERYone of them is the same. The order of what matters to the modern “Leo” is 1. Themselves 2. Other Leo’s 3. Government property 4. Citizens 5. Private property. There is no such thing as a good cop as long as these terrible ones exist, and they do in every department nationwide. The Leo’s you know wouldn’t have held that cop at gun point while in uniform to make him stop, I’d bet the farm on it.

You would not own that property very long placing bets like that. Theses guys to a man have stopped the cause of this thread an much worst as well. Only the uneducated, imply one size fits all, in any line of work. By your analogy all in LE are bad,... that is simply not the case. Living in major shit holes, or growing up it same,... tends to warp ones mind.

By your logic, then there should be no bad cops, they exist nationwide. Complacency is just as bad. And there has to be something said about every Police department’s over militarization to enforce unconstitutional laws. The police are not the friend of the people no matter how much they spend on pr campaigns. Or how many friends of yours are cops, I’d choose better company.

Until you can see past your inherent racism between black-and-white you will never figure out what is going on. It's not about black schools or being in lower income neighborhoods, it's about schools being taken over by the state and our children indoctrinated to believe against the Republic and to believe against capitalism that socialism is the cure. The only real exploitation going on of anything is the groups who live in areas with a higher gini coefficient are the ones being easily pushed to believe that there is any quality in the world and that they are the victims of it. Oddly enough at the ones who keep preaching they will give equality are the ones who create the cities with the lowest.

What we are witnessing is nothing more than a socialist revolution it has nothing to do with race that is just the tribal button that they are pushing.

It's not called the "Thin Blue Line" for nothing. We want the police to protect us, until we don't. Mac🤔

I have never in my life 'needed' the police for anything. Generally, they show up once the crime has already been committed; I'm pretty capable of making sure that doesn't go the way the guy wanting to do something thought it would.

Police are necessary to an extent, but nowhere near the extent that we have them operating at in the US. I've also never spoken with an officer and thought 'wow, that guy should be out curing cancer' which has also led us down the path where we have ended up with a philosophy of arresting/charging/harassing people under the guise of if what they are doing is ok, the court will figure that out later.

While the race baiting and riots by people who don't even know why they're burning their own shit down (lol) are complete bullshit, I have a hard time not being on the 'you need to be significantly reeled in' in regards to how the police are utilized.

The pot calling the kettle black, friend.
Don't think so, once you suspect something, your eyes will open, until then it's a moot point. You're the one who came into this thread looking for trouble. My guess is you have had a few issues with cops in your life, an you truly believe they are the same. I find those people who always seem to interact with LE from a call stand point, windup being/or were defendants pertaining to the interaction.

When I used the term "we want..", it was used as a generalization. I've had many interactions with L.E.'s, throughout my time here on this rock and most times I was the "Dickhead", not proud, but, it was what it was. During those times, I was treated with respect, knew I was wrong, so, I took my lumps and was better for it. I've been in the back seat, as well as the front seat of a squad. When I worked Corrections, I was a better officer, due to my life's experiences, so I took that into account, for any given situation/occurrence that I was involved in.
What I'm saying is, there are good cops and there are bad. I've never needed L.E. to come and save my ass for anything, but, I'd sure like to know they're around, if I do need them. Do I have a modicum of training? Yes. Can I get myself out of a situation? I hope so. It does appear that our local P.D.'s are getting more "militarized", but, hopefully, and I do mean, hopefully, it's purpose is not to be used on or against, law abiding people.
We do need laws and law enforcement, to maintain balance in society, it's just seems like it's lost its way and needs to be "squared-up"again. We need to take care of the bad seeds, so we have better fruit in the basket.
The MSM are the ones that need to be put back in check and I totally agree with you, the race "baiting" is getting way out of hand and it needs to be stopped. We have come too far in our society to allow this shit to keep happening. We are better than this. Mac(y)

You have no clue of that you speak,... I'd suggest, you not form a conclusion about people before you know something about them. However that does not seen to work for you, so one day one of your rapid conclusions, based upon perception might allow you to learn the difference between perception and,.... Reality. Sounds like you have not had the experience yet, but your words here, lead me to believe it will happen one day. When it does, think long an hard about your perceptions, as that issue has caused many a down fall at an early and late stage of life. Trying to shade the unknown is never a wise move,...

I prolly do some of that. My paths rarely take me anywhere near the seedy sections of town. When I do go there, its usually day light. I'm city - averse by nature.

But that has more to do with the crime that happens there, more than the skin color of the residents.

Look at my post again. I didn't say all profiling is racist. I said.... The politicians that ordered the police to do it in the first place are the ones who came back later and called it racist.

I'm a racist cuz I cite the actual FBI / DOJ stats.... 5-8% of the gen pop commit 35+ % of the gun homicides. (Source: FBI Uniform Crime Report) Care to guess which demographic that is ?

I asked recently.... for all the folk complaining about these officers....how many are gonna become a cop and show the world the right way to do it?

I mean...its easy.... for $35-40K starting pay you can risk ending every day on a slab in the morgue, and have the arm chair warriors tell you that your use of force in a life and death situation was "excessive." It'll be a great comfort to your bereaved kids and spouse.

Oh....and black lives will matter when the evening news runs as many stories about the 2 - 10 black on black homicides that happen every single week in Chicago as they have run on Minneapolis.

I asked recently.... for all the folk complaining about these officers....how many are gonna become a cop and show the world the right way to do it?

Not to rain on your parade, but you would never be allowed to show the world how to do it right, you'd be out the door the first time you didn't "just follow orders".

Rapid?ok ya you got me on that one.ret u.s.m.c my last mos was 0372 so you might want to rethink your statement to me.iv been downrange and don't think I give a Rosie red rat,s behind about what u think but you have a point about what we we're talking about ,I'm listening . as for reality I bet my grasp and opinions on that subject might be a bit out of your realm
