Re: Thread protector for Badger FTE 5/8 x 24
Thanks for your help.
I guess I was little premature on my request. I thought I might find a "generic" thread protector to attach to the gun when it gets back from having the muzzle brake installed.
Very apparent I am not a machinist and had not idea of what was involved in building a thread protector, "fitted" to a specific gun. I thought I could just find one already built and attach it to gun if I needed to remove the FTE for some reason.
I am returning my gun to X-Ring accuracy to have the Badger FTE muzzle brake installed by Woody, since he built the gun.
Woody said he could build a thread protector from scratch, not a problem, but he is not set up with a CNC machine and would have to build it by hand. This would take him about 3-4 hours. He thought Badger made one for sale, but they do not.
I was trying to save Woody the time by locating one that was already built.
Having said all of that, since there is not a "generic" thread protector readily available out there, I suppose I should just have Woody build one by hand while he has the gun. The cost would be about $150.00. Woody would build it to match the barrel and then Cerakote it to match the gun as well. I was Ok with the amount, I was just trying to save Woody the time.
Any thoughts??
Thanks to both of you guys for the offers.
