I'd think it would be the large bore diameter of the 338 but idk... Would also explain the lower SE numbers with the 338. Any chance of the same test on a 223 bolt action happening?

I usually just send them that old video of the dominus with the 058 port.

This is quite impressive indeed.

Will you ever run the same test on longer ar? Like 12.5 and 16? Just curious if the 338 does better with more complete powder burn?

I will run them on longer barrels. Zak has some 12.5"s I see rifle Speed has some complete ones. I'll run a test on that

We can do that on an 11.5/MLGS for comparison.. but I would expect it to be almost identical

Ammo might make more difference

135db piped straight into your ear holes isn't quiet. It may be better than 145db but neither are going to feel very good without hearing protection. Less bad? Sure. Quiet? Never.

I'm a big fan of going from "holy shit my head feels like it just took a few punches" to "I can loosely wear a set of crappy foam earplugs" when shooting SBRs.
