Curious what velocity guys are getting out of their 24 inch ctr's in 6.5 with 147g eld m. my load is 41.56 g of h4350 and get about 2630 fps. It's dead nuts accurate but looking for more velocity and thinking of re barreling to 26 to 28 inches. Thinking too of trying some r26 to boost speeds too.

Just some food for though, FYI:

A 26"er with your load, your velocity would probably be around 2690 fps and with a 28"er the velocity around 2730 fps.

Your load is on the moderate side and if your are able to go up to 43 grs that would give you about 2730 fps with your current barrel.

Tikka barrels are - as you say - dead nuts accurate, but are known for running a bit slow. I have the 24" CTR in 6.5, and my load is 42.0 gr H4350/Star-Line brass with 147 gr. ELD-M, and my avg velocity is 2695-2700. I'll likely rebarrel with a Bartlein when the barrel is burned out. But til then - 2695 fps gets me there just fine.

H4350 varies from lot to lot. My last lot was giving me identical velocity with 142s from my 24” Bartlein. My current lot does 2680 with only 40.7 grains.
Your next lot may be different.
My current lot of H4350 is also producing substantially more speed at the same charge as last lot bought about 5 years ago.

Tikka barrels are notoriously slow

Personally I prefer a load that’s stable and hammers over speed.

My mini ELR load is about 80 fps below what it could run but it’s problem free and hammers.

I’ve seen 147’s at 2600ish do quite well at a mile.
