Hello Hide,

I have a Tikka T3 in 300WSM that I want to stretch out to 1k+. I was looking at the ELD bullets and found that my COAL with the stock chamber is >3".
I know I can grind the magazine and bolt stop to load very long bullets in the current stock, but I'm planning to upgrade stocks and barrels soon.

It looks like I have two options. 1. Buy a long action chassis/stock. 2. Have the chamer freebore cut shorter so I can touch the lands with the sleekest bullet I plan to shoot, in a 2.95" COAL.

Looking at chassis options, I would much prefer to keep a SA receiver. What are your opinions?

All T3 actions are the same length. You should be able to do nothing more than swap your bolt stop for a "LA" bolt stop (or grind yours) and go to a 300 WM-compatible magazine to get the COAL you're after (you should be good to ~3.4"). Other than that, you should be in good shape.

Yes, I know. However, I'm wanting to ditch the plastic factory stock.

If you want to run the LA bolt stop and ditch the factory DBM, look at the tikkaperformance/mountain tactical bottom metals. you can get a LA aics metal that fits in a factory inlet and runs the LA aics mags. or you could buy their billet DBM and billet tikka mags for the LA and be set that way too. That way you'll be good for at least 3.4" in the factory mag config, maybe more with the AICS mags
