I have a Tikka T3 Varmint in .308 that is an awesome shooter right out of the box. It has the 23.75” length factory heavy barrel. I am going to get it threaded so I can add a muzzle brake/can and planned to cut it down to 22” in the process.
Is there any reason why I shouldn’t cut it to 22” and should instead leave it at 23.75”?
I plan to use this rifle for target shooting probably out to 800 yards and some hunting trips. I wanted to make it a bit more compact and maybe decrease some barrel whip when I put the can on it. It looks like I will only lose about 50 fps by cutting off that 1.75”
Anything I am missing? Once its cut obviously I can’t go back so figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask here.
