Yep, another new guy! Couldn't find much in searching the forum on the FN, so wanting to get some feedback from owners of these 2 bolt action rifles. I'm looking at the .223 of each of these for non-competiton target, plinking and varmint use. Had a Win 70 years ago but been away from bolt action. Thanks!

Between the two you asked, they are both good rifles that will perform equally for all intents and purposes. Which one looks better to you? Are you interested in modding/upgrading it later?

More people hate than like the Hogue stock on the FN. Taller guys say the T3 feels compact and shorter guys generally report it fits like a glove. Sako/Tikka is very respected for their high & consistent manufacturing standards.

Regarding mods, aftermarket is more sporadic for these two, but picking up more for the T3 (E.g., if you start looking the KRG Whiskey-3-Chassis and decide you love it, I don't think they make it for the M70 action). If you have no idea if and what you would upgrade, this reason is a lot of folk pick & will recommendation a Rem 700 platform.

I'd go for the FN rifle, aftermarket support is not as high, but the bread and butter is out there such as bottom metal for magazines (CDI), there are a few chassis systems (McRee, XLR), and of course your regular fiberglass in the excellent stocks from McMillian or Manners.

I really love the controlled round feed, it extracted rounds (Monarch steel case) that my Remington 700 would not extract after a few rounds, this is due to the oversized claw extractor.
