Hey guys,
this is my first Tikka and I´m used to set back my bullets max. about 2/5" from the lands.

But the Tikka seems to like more than that.

So, how far do you seat your bullets from the lands in yours?
Any preference?

Is it from 0 up to an inch, or is it "further back" with Tikkas in general?

Any experience is appreciated.

You measure in thousands of an inch. Typically I start .010 off the lands and work from there.

Yes, of course, my bad.

I´m starting too at .010 and then going on setting it back .010 after .010, looking where it gets me.

How far do you go?
When do you stop?

At .060, .070, what´s the furthest you set them back when testing?

And another "playing-around" question for finding the-one-load.

Is it possible, that shooting different bullets with different jacket-material makes precision worse?

I´ve been testing around with two different bullets, of those one has a clear copper jacket and the other more of a brass jacket (Lapua Scenar and S&B FMJ).

May it be, that if I shoot 10 rounds with the copper-ish and 10 rounds with the brass ones, that this reduces precision of both?

I´m just trying to figure out what´s going on.

The rifle will tell you what the seating depth should be for each bullet.

Read the article from Berger about seating VLDs.
Basically give you a range of seating depths ranging from 0.000-0.120" in 0.040" increments and one of those should be a lot better than the others
