Tikka Trigger SPring Upgrade: Earnie or Yodave? (also - which diameter pillars)?

Im a big fan of the stock Tikka trigger, but I would like to take it from a hunting trigger to a target trigger w/ a new spring. I had a Yodave spring in my cart, but then I saw it ships from Canada and the $9 shipping had me looking elsewhere. I found Ernie The Gunsmith Springs for half the price, and I also see he sells pillar blanks for a fair price.

1) Will the Ernie varmint spring get me to ~1.5lbs?
2) What dimension of pillars are recommended for the Tikka in a boyds stock?
The options are:
1/2" OD x .26" ID
3/8" OD x .26" ID
3/8" OD x .185" ID

Appreciate any advice

I've never tried (or heard of) Ernie's spring, so you know what that means... precisely nothing whatsoever.

I can say that I have used two YoDave springs, and am very happy with them. That said, I can't imagine that there could be all THAT much difference in performance between the YoDave and another similarly sized/spec'd spring (especially since you can adjust the pre-load with the screw). I say give it a shot and let us know what you think!

I bought a trigger spring 1 time in the past and since then have gone a different route in reducing pull weight. I have reduced the weight of pull on my triggers on at least 5 Tikkas that I have by taking the adjusting screw out of the trigger and grinding down the top some were you put the allen wrench in to adjust the pull weight. Then I back it out so that it bottoms out on the screw that holds the trigger to the action. All my rifles are set at about 1 1/4 pound for hunting. It takes me all of about 15 maybe 20 minutes to do it and have never had a problem. It can still be screwed in for a heavier pull weight should you choose. I went the spring route once in the past and I see no difference in performance by the way I do it.

OK so This shortening of the pull weight screw doesn't affect anything else?

I got the 3 pack from them and I think they are worth every penny.

i went with the yodave when i had mine. havent shot others but compared to factory my god night and day. worth every penny.

advice. order 5 and sell 3 others here. ships in an envelope

I got the one from Tikka Performance, took mine down to 12oz, I bumped it up to 1lb.

The Elay spring is awesome, 1.5-1.25 lbs is easy. I’ve shot the Yo Dave and can’t tell the difference between that and my Elay.

When I had a Tikka I went with Ernie the gunsmith. Why? Because I wasn't paying $9 to ship a tiny spring. It was fine, no different than Yo Dave springs I've dry fired.
