Tim Kennedy is a liar

I saw a video once where Tim was training some want-ta-bees in using BJJ to retain your handgun against a criminal who was trying to take it.

After demonstrating a technique ( that was a good technique) he described how he had personally used this technique against someone who was grappling with him on the ground, and who had got a hand on his gun.

By using the technique Tim broke his arm in many places and completely tore apart his shoulder to the extent that this criminal would probably never have use of that arm again.

Considering the probabilities of the events described I assigned a .001% chance that the events were even based on a true story. So from that point forward I felt that I was able to recognize his flavor of crap.

The problem with fags like Timmy is that by the time real soldiers are ready to tell their story it's even harder for them because grandstanding jerks like this have convinced most that it's all self-serving bullshit.

So yeah fuck little timmy.

Well that's not exactly funny, but it's a good example of people proving their loyalty to a poser.

Self delusion can be hard to break out of. Personally I'm embarrassed to admit I believed Chris Kyle over Jessy Ventura for a long time.

Well, you should be. Chris Kyle's tales were simply too tall to believe. There were too many of them, and they were ridiculous. Good guy. Hell of a sniper, but full of shit.

I have one friend in particular who served long and with valor and who has many sea stories that require no embellishment at all, yet he can't seem to help himself. He exaggerates EVERYTHING, and he doesn't need to at all. He doesn't seem to understand that it doesn't make it a better story. It fucks up an already great story.

It helped that Ventura is such a dick. As I said at the time. I like Chris Kyle. I don't like Ventura, but I believe Ventura, and not Chris Kyle.

Some people just can't seem to help themselves even if they are already the real deal.

Regarding your friend.

We had a civilian tech named Jerry that was a retired chief when my ship was undergoing sea trials. Jerry was a Damm good tech and an even better story teller.

After a week at sea one of my shipmates asked him "Jerry why do you start most of your stories with the phrase "this is a real no-shitter"" Jerry looked around the shop and thought a minute then answered. "When an old salt starts a story by saying this is a real no-shitter what that means is you should not believe a word of it."

Guys like Jerry and likely your friend weren't lying to con people, just telling stories to have fun.

Guys like Tim and Chris were telling lies to build their brand, and eventually get money from suckers.

The government creates heros when the population tires of a war. A sniper is the easiest way to do it because the civilians think its a solo effort. They believe the movies and think there is a man out there alone on the battlefield just yeeting people from the shadows and disappearing into the smoke. Hathcock was a government invention, so was Chris Kyle, Audie Murphy, Alvin York, etc. They all do it. The Russians might be better at it than we are. The Germans were good at it. The British do it, the Canadians do it, everyone does it. You take a guy who looks like the boy next door with a plausible background and you make a hero out of them for the world to see. They are as much victims as anything. They look for people who are morally flexible..I remember reading Hathcock's book about 10 times as a teenager, believed every word of it like the letters were written in red. When I was in my early 20's I stumbled into his now famous series of video interviews, and within a couple of minutes i realized I was listening to a sociopathic narcissist and a liar. It was so blatantly obvious. When you realize the lengths the government will go to to accomplish this shit, it will make you sick. Both Marcus Luttrell and Chris Kyle had admitted that they came back from a deployment and where told they had written a book, and this is what it says. Some of them love the sunshine it brings, and some of them eventually fall apart under the weight of the lie. I expect Luttrell to be suicided any minute now for breaking from the story, while he's also pushing for psychedelics for ptsd treatment. The government and big pharma are probably in a race to see who can get a noose into his closet first. They've probably already written the suicide note. I think there are reasons to believe that Chris Kyle was killed because he was talking too much and messing up the narrative.

I don't disagree with you , but I met Hathcock several times (near the end when he was crippled up in a wheelchair) selling his book and schwag at the Tidewater Gun Shows, and he was one hell of a nice guy would sign everything some Boot Camp Barney would push at him, talk to anyone, and he treated everyone with the same respect he was shown. Granted, only talked to him across a table a few times, but he seemed genuine and very humble to me. He was nothing like these guys on the internet. He was an example to me of how you are supposed to act even when everyone knows your name.

Have you seen his video interviews?

Also, almost every story he ever claimed was debunked. It was proven that he wasn't in places he claimed he was, never operated in areas he claimed to have, never killed a Vietnamese general. Many of his stories were destroyed by objective testing etc. If you haven't seen those interviews, give them a gander and see what you think..

He is a tabbed SF Ranger. Why does he feel the need to embellish? Those tabs alone are noteworthy enough unless you are an very insecure narcissist.
Tabbed Ranger, Green Beret, multiple combat deployments and UFC fighter.

Pretty much a mystery to me why someone with a resume like that needs to tell any tall tales.

The guy lied about committing war crimes. THAT HE DIDN'T ACTUALLY COMMIT. Wtf ?

TK is like that other pathological liar Lance Armstrong in that neither will ever give a true apology for all their obvious lies- instead they use a highly managed strategy of only admitting to the lesser stuff to give the appearance of having come clean.

On another note, TK was on Lance's podcast once and voiced support for more Democrat style gun control- of course Lance strongly agreed.

Both are fuckin chameleons and narcissists.

TK was a Green Beret and UFC fighter- how are those fantastic accomplishments not enough?
Look, I know how it goes as far as team talk and such. It can be like guys telling fishing stories. The explosion was always closer. The pain was always more. The numbers were always more. Etc.

That said, TK is the reason TK is catching heat.

The difference is when you start exaggerating to the general public; albeit straight up lying, then gas light people with and elitist take on anti 2A politics, and constantly butts himself into things in the media to stay relevant…yeah….people are going to forget about all the good things you did and talk shit. Especially on the Internet.

I think generally speaking you’re probably correct in this. I will say this, hathcock didn’t write a book. Someone else did and I’m sure it was with interviews with him. Hathcock and EJ Land DID write the book in scout snipers and it really set the standard for a lot of how things are done in the bush. Now there is some new cat named chuck mawhinny and he’s claiming that he’s the real sniper and everyone else is a fraud.

Interesting, when I went to sniper school in 2009, everything was based on the FM23-7. I don't think that's current information.

Not only that he competed in the UFC while maintaining status as a green beret on an ODA. Not only competed but was ranked title contender. That alone makes him one of the hardest dudes on the planet.

The fact he had to embellish and lie to make his story cooler is just sad. Dude did irrepitable harm to his brand and potential. Almost like an addict who couldn't help themselves.

I think that’s more team guys than not. There’s an addiction to feeling important.

Same drive that gets you through training and being an operator is the same thing that can make you a douche bag to everyone else, especially when your op tempo slows.

Just my general opinion

.Gov needs SF heros because everything they do can can be hidden, you can't FOIA anything.

When you look at a lot of early 21st century SF propaganda in books, movies, games ETC that coincided with the GWOT, it seems the SF hero worship was not a totally organic happenstance.
